Half-dead flowers tossed into water for hydroponics: brought back to life, exploding with growth
How to grow a half-dead kalanchoe in water?
Kalanchoe has fleshy roots. Once it is accidentally overwatered, the roots sit in water and rot very quickly, so at this point let's just grow it in water!
Hydroponic steps:
1. Take the wilted, drooping-leaved kalanchoe out of its pot, shake off the soil cleanly, and expose the roots completely.
2. Find a sterilized knife, cut off all the rotten parts of the kalanchoe's roots, then place it in a cool, ventilated place to let the wounds dry.
3. Prepare a pure milk carton, cut it open from the upper part with scissors, and wash the milk carton clean for later use. Because the milk carton's paperboard is fairly stiff and has a certain light-blocking effect, it helps the kalanchoe grow roots.
4. Buy a bottle of mineral water or cooled boiled water, and pour the water directly into the milk carton, just making sure that the water will not overflow when the kalanchoe is placed inside.
5. Insert the kalanchoe with dried wounds directly into the milk carton, and place it in a spot indoors with good light for care.
6. It takes only about 7-10 days before you can see the kalanchoe growing fine little root hairs.
7. When the roots have grown to 3-5cm and the kalanchoe's leaves have become firm again, you can end the hydroponic phase.
8. You can also keep the kalanchoe growing in water the whole time, adding hydroponic nutrient solution about 2-3 times a month, which can also make the kalanchoe grow even more vigorously!
How to grow a half-dead money tree in water?
The money tree is also a plant that rots very easily; with the slightest carelessness its roots and stem rot, causing the leaves to droop and wilt, so you might as well just toss the money tree into water, and the root rot problem will never happen again!
Hydroponic steps:
1. Take the money tree with rotten roots out of its pot, clean the soil off the roots, then find a sharp pair of scissors and cut off the rotten parts of the roots.
2. Prepare a carbendazim or potassium permanganate solution, and soak the root-trimmed money tree for about 20-30 minutes.
3. Place the money tree in a cool place to let the wounds dry, apply a little rooting powder to the wounds, then place it directly in a hydroponic bottle.
4. Before the money tree grows roots, change the water about once every 5 days. Basically it takes only 2 weeks before you can see the money tree sprouting white roots.
5. For a hydroponic money tree, before it grows roots, keep it fixed in one place and do not move it around casually. Once the roots appear, just add water whenever you notice the water level is low.
How to grow a half-dead asparagus fern in water?
Speaking of plants prone to yellow leaves, if the asparagus fern ranks first, then other flowers definitely would not dare rank second. Since it is always hard to get the air humidity right when watering, you might as well just switch to hydroponics!
Hydroponic steps:
1. Take the asparagus fern out of its pot, wash all the soil off its roots, then trim off all the old roots, weak roots, and so on.
2. After rinsing the roots, wrap the asparagus fern's roots in paper, then slowly place them into the planting basket.
3. Add water to the hydroponic bottle, leaving about 1cm of the roots exposed above the water surface, with the rest soaking in the water.
4. For a hydroponic asparagus fern, change the water about once every 3-5 days. It is best to use mineral water or cooled boiled water for hydroponics, and just rinse the sticky mucus off the roots a little each time you change the water.
5. It takes only about 1 month for the asparagus fern's new roots to grow well, and at this point you can trim off some of the old roots.
6. After rooting, change the water about once a week, add a few drops of nutrient solution to the hydroponic bottle, and mist the leaves and the surrounding air morning and evening, so the asparagus fern's leaves become greener and greener!
