How to Make Dried Carnations: Learn It Easily in a Few Simple Steps

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
This flower is very beautiful, sold in many flower shops, and much loved by people. Recently a friend received a bouquet of carnations from someone she likes very much. It means a great deal to her, and she really wants to preserve this bouquet. The best way is to turn it into dried flowers, so how should it be done? Below are several common methods.

1. Wax Coating Method

1. Drying

First, dry the flowers. Sprinkle silica gel granules into every flower, spreading them evenly and making sure none are missed. Then wrap the flowers in plastic film and place them in a crisper box. After about three or four days, take them out and dry them in the sun.

2. Wax Coating

Heat a white candle in a discarded pot until it melts. Once the candle has become liquid, quickly dip the flowers in while it is still warm, so that every flower is coated in wax, then let them air-dry.

2. Natural Air-Drying

Hang the flowers upside down in the air with a thin hook, so they will not lose their shape while air-drying. Place them in a cool, breezy spot and the flowers will dry quickly. The temperature should not be too high, and in about half a month they will become dried flowers.

3. Microwave-Assisted Method

This is a new method. It takes little time to turn fresh flowers into dried flowers, and no other items are needed. The drying time depends on the size of the microwave and the number of flowers. If you are worried the flowers will split, you can first put them in a cool, dry place for at least about seven days.

4. Drying with Yellow Paper to Absorb Moisture

When people hold memorial ceremonies at home, they burn a very coarse kind of yellow paper. It is very cheap and absorbs water well. You can place the flowers on the paper. At the beginning, change the paper every day. Once there is not much moisture left, you can change it once every three days. When the flowers are dry, you can frame them.

5. Drying by Burying in Silica

Dried flowers made this way look very fresh, just like they were freshly picked from the garden. Silica looks like sand, and you can buy it at a craft store. Put it in a basin and bury the fresh flowers in it. After about two to three days, the flowers will be dry yet still look full of life.

6. Air-Drying in a Bottle

You can prepare a vase taller than the flowers, put a tiny bit of water in it, then place the flowers inside. Put the bottle in a ventilated area. After the water evaporates, the flowers will be dry, and they will also keep an upright posture.
