The weather is getting warmer and warmer, and the roses are already preparing to bloom! It's just that many flower lovers have very few varieties of roses at home, so what can be done? Don't worry, today Huahua has put together the most complete guide to rose cutting propagation in history. Master 1 trick and you can turn 1 pot into 100 pots!

Water propagation of roses

Steps:

1. The water propagation method Huahua is introducing today is called the in-bottle sponge cutting method. You need to prepare a sponge, a plastic bottle, the cuttings and a sharp pair of scissors in advance.

2. Use the scissors to cut the sponge into small pieces 3cm long and 2cm wide and 2cm high, then find a long nail and poke a hole along the 3cm height; the size of the hole just needs to be about the same as the thickness of the rose stem.

3. Gently push the rose stem to be propagated through the sponge block; the insertion depth should be about 2/3 of the sponge block.

4. Put the rose stem together with the sponge block into the plastic bottle, gently move the stem with chopsticks, try to let the rose leaves spread out, then slowly pour clean water into the bottle; cooled boiled water is best. The depth of the water added should be about 2/3 of the sponge.

5. Tear off the plastic bottle's label so the rose leaves can carry out photosynthesis, then place it on a south-facing balcony to receive plenty of light. The bottle cap does not need to be put on, so as to allow ventilation.

6. If the light is strong, the water temperature inside the bottle will rise. At this time, find a black plastic bag and wrap the lower part of the bottle, and the rose stem will take root faster.

7. After the propagated rose has taken root, pot it together with the sponge. For the soil, you can choose loose, breathable nutrient soil, and you can mix peat soil and perlite at a ratio of 2:1. After potting, just care for it normally.

Soil propagation of roses

Steps:

1. Choose sturdy stems from the rose plant and cut them off, and the best cuttings are stems that have already bloomed, because stems that have bloomed have relatively sufficient nutrients and take root the fastest.

2. Use sharp scissors to cut the stem short, to a length of about 5-7cm, and it is best to keep 2 pairs of leaves, which helps the cutting sprout as quickly as possible later.

3. Soak the trimmed rose stem in a carbendazim solution for about 5-10 minutes, which helps with sterilization and disinfection.

4. After soaking, take the stem out and place it in a cool, ventilated place to dry slightly.

5. Prepare the soil for propagation; you can mix perlite and coconut coir at a ratio of 1:1 to make nutrient soil. The soil must be pressed firm; if it is too loose, its water retention will become poor.

6. To make the rose take root faster, you can dip the lower end of the rose stem in a little rooting solution, then insert it into the prepared nutrient soil.

7. Place the propagated rose stem in a place with good indirect light. After about 3-5 days, you can spray 1 round of foliar fertilizer, and after only about 10 days, the rose stem can take root.

Air layering of roses

Steps:

1. First prepare 1 pair of scissors, a sharp blade, an empty plastic bottle and clear tape.

2. Use the scissors to cut the plastic bottle starting from the opening, cutting straight down, and then cut off the bottom of the bottle as well.

3. For rose air layering, you must choose thicker current-year stems, as this makes rooting easier, and then girdle the stem.

4. Put the cut-open plastic bottle with its opening facing down over the rose cutting, fill the lower end with water-permeable material such as foam, then wrap tape around the outside of the bottle until the bottle opening is completely sealed.

5. Use perlite, vermiculite, river sand and similar materials prepared in advance to fill the bottle completely, then water it thoroughly once.

6. Finally, find a plastic bag and wrap it completely around the sealed opening of the plastic bottle to keep it warm and moist.

7. When you find that the rose's root system has filled the entire bottle, just cut the rose stem short from the base.

8. Place the cut rose stem in a cool, ventilated place for about 1 week, then cut off the plastic bottle, repot it, and it becomes a new rose plant!

That's all for Huahua's introduction today.
