This flower can live from just a single cutting, and its blossoms can be brewed into tea to beautify the skin and brighten the eyes.
Stick a cutting in the soil and honeysuckle will cover your balcony in no time.
Honeysuckle grows fast and is easy to keep. When it blooms, it gives off a delicate fragrance, and the flowers start out pure white before gradually turning golden yellow. The blossoms can be picked to brew into tea that detoxifies and reduces internal heat. First, let's see how honeysuckle is propagated from cuttings!
1. Cut a few branches
Choose branches that have already become woody, not too tender ones, each about 20 cm long. Leave them in a cool, ventilated spot to dry for 1 day so the wounds heal.
2. Insert the branches into the soil
Mix garden soil with river sand, put it in a flower pot, water it thoroughly once, insert the branches into the soil, and place the pot in a cool, ventilated spot. Keep the soil moist during the cutting period. Generally, after about 30 days, big white roots will grow and new shoots will sprout like crazy!
3. Transplant into a large flower pot
When transplanting, choose a flower pot about 30 cm in diameter. First place broken bricks and tiles at the bottom of the pot, then spread on rotted chicken manure, then fill the pot with garden soil and river sand. Water thoroughly, plant the honeysuckle, and it will grow so vigorously it fills the pot!
4. Place it in a spot with plenty of light for care
Put the honeysuckle on a south-facing balcony with plenty of light, and water it whenever the soil in the pot dries out. Combined with the ample chicken manure already at the bottom of the pot, it would be strange if the honeysuckle didn't grow wildly - it will fill the balcony like it's been injected with adrenaline! It usually blooms in May, and with good care it can bloom several times, all the way until October!
Brew honeysuckle tea like this:
1. Pick the buds in the early morning or before noon
Honeysuckle buds that are about to open are best for brewing tea. The best time to pick the buds is early morning or before noon. If you pick a lot of buds and can't brew them all at once, you can dry them and store them.
2. Brew with boiling water
Take an appropriate amount of honeysuckle, either dried or fresh, put it in a cup, pour in hot water to brew, and after about 10 minutes it's ready to drink! When you feel you have internal heat, such as a sore throat, you can drink a cup to relieve the symptoms!
Stick a cutting in the soil and gardenia will burst out of the pot.
Gardenia is very fragrant, with pure white flowers and glossy green leaves. Keep one at home and besides enjoying the flowers, you can also brew gardenia tea. If you haven't grown one yet, you can go to a neighbor's house, snap off a few branches, and propagate a whole big pot from cuttings!
1. Cut healthy branches
For gardenia cuttings, it's best to choose 1-2 year old branches without pests or diseases, about 10 cm long, and cut the branches at a 45-degree angle.
2. Soak in carbendazim solution for 30 minutes
Put the diagonally cut end of the branch into carbendazim solution, soak for 30 minutes, then take it out and let it dry.
3. Insert the branches into the soil
Mix river sand with pine needle soil, put it in a pot, water thoroughly, insert the branches, and place in a cool, ventilated spot. When the temperature is around 15°C, roots usually form in 1-2 months, and new shoots will sprout like crazy!
4. Transplant into a pot
Find a large flower pot, mix pine needle soil, cake fertilizer and garden soil and put it in the pot, plant the rooted branches, water thoroughly, and place in a spot with plenty of sunlight, but don't expose them to blazing sun. The gardenia leaves will grow bigger and bigger, glowing green! Gardenia usually blooms in May and keeps blooming until October!
Brew gardenia tea like this:
1. Pick the flowers and dry them
To brew gardenia tea, it's best to choose flowers that have just fully bloomed. Dry them in an oven, or dry them in the shade before brewing. Don't use them fresh directly, to prevent adverse reactions.
2. Add a spoonful of honey for a tastier drink
First brew the gardenia with boiling water, wait a while, and when the water temperature drops to around 40°C, add a few spoonfuls of honey. It's sweet and delicious, and drinking it will improve your skin. If you have a cough or phlegm, drinking a cup can also relieve the cough and clear the phlegm!
