How to prune Cuban oregano? Detailed pruning methods
1. How to prune
There is no specific time needed to prune its branches and leaves; as long as the leaves grow very dense, it can be pruned. It easily grows branches and grows along the horizontal plane, so when planting, there should be enough distance between each plant so the leaves can spread out. Helping it prune can promote the growth of its branches and make it grow more robust.
If it has just been planted for one year, do not behead it first. Wait until a section of its base root has grown, and then in the second year, after this section of base root becomes an old stump, cut it off. If it has been planted for a relatively long time, then beheading can be done. Specifically, remove its head, but do not remove too much; afterward it will look even more beautiful.
The cut branches can also be used for cuttings. First prepare a few pots and insert the cut branches into them. It will not take long before they grow out. If they grow dense again, you can continue to cut branches for cuttings.
2. Pruning precautions
1. After beheading it, care for it well. First leave it quietly indoors for a few days, and after the cut surface is slightly dry, place it in sunlight. Even if direct sunlight shines on it, it is fine. Control watering moderately; if the soil is not dry, do not water.
2. If grown in sunlight, give it an appropriate amount of potassium fertilizer, otherwise it will be sunburned yellow. If it is severe winter, ensure 5-10 degrees. It is relatively drought-tolerant. Do not let water accumulate for a long time, and it cannot be too wet, otherwise it is very easy to have root rot. Also do not frequently touch its leaves, as this will harm it. When watering it, do not splash water on it. When watering, water thoroughly; if it is not dry, do not water.
