Magnolia denudata flowering period care methods and precautions
1. Appropriate pinching before flowering
During the care period, it should frequently be pinched and have leaves removed appropriately to promote growth, but the timing must be right. Generally, from the Spring Equinox to Qingming each year, we first move it outdoors. When moving it outdoors, watch the weather carefully; overcast or cloudy days are best.
After that, give it 2 to 3 days to adapt so it can fully adjust to the outdoor environment. Then you can begin removing leaves, generally removing the plant's old leaves and leaving just a few young leaves, to encourage new shoots to sprout. After that, each time it finishes a round of blooming, continue removing leaves to encourage more new branches and flower buds to grow. In addition, pinching must not be neglected, as this can control rampant growth at the tips and encourage more side branches to sprout.
2. Sufficient nutrients
During the flowering period, nutrients are especially important for it. It is usually very fond of fertilizer, perhaps because of its long flowering period and abundant blooms. So nutrients should be replenished in time, so the flowers it produces are more numerous, larger, and more pleasantly fragrant. Usually, when potting, enough base fertilizer is applied to meet its initial nutritional needs. In addition, during the flowering period, an organic fertilizer rich in phosphorus and potassium should be added once every 5 to 7 days. When fertilizing, apply dilute first and then stronger; never apply raw fertilizer, otherwise it will burn the roots. Also, apply a foliar fertilizer once every 7 to 10 days for more abundant nutrition.
3. Appropriate watering
Its roots are fleshy roots, extremely fond of water but afraid of waterlogging. So when summer first arrives, water once a day, just enough to keep the soil slightly moist. But by the middle of summer, water once in the morning and once in the evening, and also sprinkle water on the leaves and around the pot to lower the air temperature.
4. Suitable light
During the flowering period, light is very important. In addition, since it is a light-loving flower, you must ensure sufficient light during this period, at least no less than 6 hours a day. If you place it in a shady spot, it will only keep growing leaves without blooming, or bloom very little. Only during periods of high summer heat may it be shaded appropriately to prevent sunburn.
