Does Bryophyllum die after blooming? You'll understand after reading this
I. Whether it dies after flowering
It is a very common succulent plant. Its propagation is extremely easy and its ability is very strong, living up to its name. Just a tiny piece can grow into a new plant, and it can produce offspring in a very short time. Its flowering period is from January to March. Many people say it has no ability to bloom, which is wrong. If it does bloom, it will consume the nutrients it has accumulated, so it rarely produces flowers, and it easily dies after the flowers bloom.
II. How to care for it after flowering
1. Pruning
If the plant grows old, the stem gradually becomes woody, and its growth is unattractive and not upright, its ornamental value decreases. You should remove one section of the stem, which can help it grow new stems faster. You can cut off a disease-free part with relatively good growth to propagate anew, and you can mix rotten leaves and sand as a growing medium.
2. Water and fertilizer
Water only after the soil dries out. There is no need to worry about it lacking water, because it is fairly drought-tolerant. Do not apply fertilizer too often either, otherwise it will grow too vigorously and rot. Give it plenty of sunlight, otherwise the leaf edges will fade in color. During the flowering season, the temperature is still relatively low, and indoors it needs to be kept above 7 °C.
3. Pest and disease control
When it is flowering, it easily attracts small insects and may also have its health affected by disease. If it gets powdery mildew or aphids, you can spray it with thiophanate-methyl at a concentration of 70 percent. Or spray with dimethoate emulsifiable concentrate at a concentration of 40 percent.
