Reasons for Curling and Drying Camellia Leaves and How to Fix Them
1. Disease problems
(1) Specific cause: This plant is prone to a disease called "damping-off." After it strikes, it can cause the leaves to dry out and curl. What's more, it is extremely damaging. In severe cases, it can even cause many leaves to dry up and drop off, and the flowers will fall off before they even open.
(2) Solution: First, we need to cut off all the dead branches and dead leaves and dispose of them properly. Then, you can spray some chlorothalonil solution, keeping the frequency to once a week. In addition, do not apply too much fertilizer, and do not make the concentration too high. Also, moisture needs to be controlled, so do not let the soil get too wet.
2. Soil problems
(1) Specific cause: This plant does well in acidic soil. So, if the soil becomes alkaline, causing the roots to rot, the external symptoms may be dry, curled leaves.
(2) Solution: If this is the case, we can use white vinegar at a concentration of one part per thousand to adjust the soil's pH.
3. Watering problems
(1) Specific cause: Sometimes, if we water too much at once or too often, the soil will stay soaked in water for a long time. If this continues, the plant's roots will rot as well. This will also show up in the leaves, causing them to dry out.
(2) Solution: If excessive moisture is the cause, then we need to adjust our watering. When the plant is growing fast, you can water a bit more, but do not let water accumulate. However, on cloudy and rainy days, do not water too much.
