Detailed Guide to Hydroponic Cultivation Methods and Precautions for Peace Lilies

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
Peace lilies grown in water require specific methods for care. Attention must be paid to the choice of vase, as well as to light, temperature, water, nutrients, and humidity. There are also several precautions that deserve close attention and need to be well understood. If you are not yet quite clear on these, why not take a look!

I. Cultivation Methods

1. Vase

If you want to use the hydroponic method, you can buy a vase with a relatively large base, or a medium-sized fish tank works well too.

2. Temperature

Only suitable temperatures can help it grow. 5-30 degrees is fairly normal; within this range, it will not be harmed and can grow normally.

3. Light

It should be given diffused light, which is the most suitable lighting. It does not necessarily need to be exposed to sunlight; especially in summer, do not place it in direct sunlight.

4. Water and Nutrients

In hot seasons, add water about once a week; in winter, change it once every ten to fifteen days. Each time you add water, you can add a little special hydroponic nutrient solution, mixed according to the instructions. The bottle used for hydroponic cultivation easily grows green algae, which makes the roots look unattractive and also consumes oxygen. When adding water, you should wash off the dirt on the roots, cut off old dead roots, and clean the bottle thoroughly. The water in the bottle only needs to cover half or two-thirds of the roots; the rest can be exposed to help it absorb substances.

5. Humidity

To prevent its leaves from turning yellow and withering, which would affect its ornamental value, you can frequently spray its leaves with clean water to increase humidity. It is best to spray foliar fertilizer once a week, which not only increases nutrients and makes the leaves more glossy but also helps it overwinter more safely. Before flowering, you can spray the leaves with potassium dihydrogen phosphate at a concentration of 0.3%; two or three applications can help it bloom more abundantly.

II. Precautions

1. In the process of hydroponic cultivation, the factors that require the most attention are its oxygen, light, and nutrients.

2. Normally, just give it diffused light. In summer, use something to block strong light and avoid direct exposure.

3. Use some specialized leaf-promoting nutrient solutions to help its leaves grow, and also purchase specialized solutions to help it grow.

4. It likes moisture. If the weather is too dry, moderately spray water on the leaves to give it the humidity it needs.
