Tie up a pothos with string, and its leaves grow as big as a sheet of A4 paper, covering a wall in just 1 month
Make a pothos pole, and the leaves grow as big as a sheet of A4 paper
Getting pothos leaves to grow bigger and bigger is not hard at all - just let it climb up a pothos pole! In the photo below, the leaves at the top of the pothos pole have already grown to 17 cm!
1. Insert a palm pole into the flower pot
Find a palm pole and insert it in the middle of the flower pot. If you don't have a palm pole, you can also find a fairly long wooden stick.
2. Tie the pothos to the palm pole
Find a piece of string and tie the pothos vines to the pole, tying at every node. Once new nodes grow, keep tying them so the vines don't droop.
3. Spray water on the palm pole every day
Spray water daily on the pothos leaves, aerial roots and the palm pole. This will speed up the aerial roots gripping the palm pole and help the leaves grow bigger and greener. Look at the size comparison of the two leaves in the photo below - it's like night and day!
4. Fertilize the pothos in time
If you want your pothos to grow fast and green, of course you can't skip fertilizing. Once a month, water it with fermented rice-washing water or buy some bone meal and mix it into the soil, so the pothos leaves grow even bigger than a sheet of A4 paper! Your neighbors will be so jealous!
Make a pothos waterfall, with leaves growing bigger and bigger
Pothos vines grow longer and longer. If you hang it up, it will trail down naturally and look very beautiful. So how do you grow pothos into a waterfall?
1. Fix the pothos in a high place
To turn your pothos into a waterfall, you can tie a knot in a rope, loop it around the outside of the flower pot, and hang it in the air, or you can place it on a fairly high cabinet.
2. Spray the pothos with beer
If you want your pothos leaves to be so green they shine, gardeners can mix beer with 20 times its volume of clean water, put it in a spray bottle, and spray the leaves every 7 days. The nutrients in the beer will be absorbed through the leaves, and your pothos is sure to thrive.
3. Fertilize often
If you want your pothos to grow into a dense, impenetrable green waterfall, it must have plenty of nutrients. Gardeners can put 3 granules of compound fertilizer or a few cooked soybeans into the pothos pot every 2 weeks, so the pothos grows like crazy.
Make a pothos wall, with leaves so green they drip with oil
Some gardeners have pothos at home that has covered an entire wall, so lush and green, and the air at home becomes much fresher. So how do you get pothos to cover a wall?
1. Stick a few hooks on the wall
If the wall is smooth tile, you can stick on a few hooks, and when you no longer need them, they're easy to take off.
2. Tie the pothos vines to the hooks
Drape the vines over the hooks. To prevent the vines from falling off, tie them to the hooks with string. You can choose fishing line, because fishing line is strong and transparent, and tying it to the hooks won't affect the look.
3. Shape it with wire
Find a few pieces of wire and bend them into shapes you like, such as a heart or a circle, wrap the pothos around the wire, and then hang the wire on the hooks - it looks lovely too. Remember to spray water on the leaves often.
