How to Grow Orchids So They Bloom Abundantly? A Detailed Guide to Care Techniques
1. Light
This is the most important factor in helping it bloom. Giving it suitable light conditions can help it produce more flowers. In addition, intensity is also worth special mention, as different varieties need different intensities.
If it is placed in a bright spot before blooming, red and yellow orchid flowers will have deeper colors. If it is green or white, the intensity should be reduced before flower buds form, which can make it more elegant and refined. After it has grown flowers, give it plenty of light, which can help it grow new shoots. Before blooming, there should be 2-3 hours of light each day. If it does not see sunlight for a long time, it will not bloom.
2. Temperature
In terms of temperature, there needs to be a low-temperature period. The day-night temperature difference is best around ten degrees. If the daytime temperature is 18-21 degrees, then at night it is best to have 5-10 degrees. Only this way is it beneficial to its growth, and only then will it produce more flowers. If the nights are relatively warm and the day-night temperature difference is relatively small, the flower buds will be rather weak and thin. Being in low temperatures for a long time carries the risk of blind buds, and small spots will grow on the leaves. If the temperature is low during the flowering period, the flowers will develop small brown spots.
3. Fertilizer and Water
Fertilizer and water are also very important conditions, and they need to be precisely controlled. If there is too much, it will grow leggy and it will not easily produce flowers. Appropriate moisture is also a factor in promoting more flowers. If there is too little water, the condition of clamped buds will occur. It is best, before it shows flower buds, to give it one application of soybean cake fertilizer, which should first be composted well. By the time it is about to bloom, there is no need to add fertilizer.
