Reasons and solutions for blackening leaves of hydroponic Anthurium

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
Many gardening enthusiasts like to grow Anthurium in plain water, but some have found that after growing it for a while, the leaves actually turn black. What exactly is going on? How can this blackening problem be solved?

I. Water

1. Too much water. Too much water easily causes the plant to suffer from gray mold. In fact, this plant only needs to be given water once every 4 to 7 days. If the weather is relatively dry, you can generally spray a small amount of plain water on the leaves; on cloudy days, when the weather is not so dry, there is no need to spray water. But remember that the higher the temperature, the more frequently you need to spray.

2. Treatment method: You can buy some medication for treating gray mold on the market, and after diluting it according to the medication's usage instructions, apply it.

II. Light

1. Not enough light. If it does not receive light for nourishment for a long time, its leaves will also struggle to grow normally and gradually turn black.

2. Treatment method: We can move it to a balcony with light, generally placing it there for 15 days. The balcony environment needs good ventilation and light. Doing this can extend its lifespan to a certain extent, but be sure not to let sunlight shine directly on it.

III. Notes

Generally speaking, growing this plant in water is very simple; you just need to buy the proper tools, such as a glass container and a mesh net. After buying the plant, you can wash its roots clean with water. According to the size of its roots, cut an appropriate hole in the mesh net so the roots can pass through. Finally, spread some small stones on top of the mesh net; this can achieve the purpose of stabilizing the Anthurium. Fill the glass container with water, just enough to cover the roots, so the roots can come into contact with it, but they must not be completely submerged.
