Reasons and solutions for black spots on hydroponic anthurium leaves
1. Leaf spot disease
(1) Specific cause: There is a disease called "leaf spot disease". When it occurs, black spots may appear on the plant's leaves. At the beginning, some small spots appear on the back of the leaves, and the color is relatively light. As it develops further, they become large patches, and the color also becomes darker, accompanied by yellow rings. This disease is mainly caused by high temperature and humidity in the environment combined with poor ventilation.
(2) Solutions: First, the leaves that have already developed black spots must be picked off and dealt with together, preferably burned. Doing this can effectively prevent the disease from spreading. Next, we can spray chemicals for prevention and control; Bordeaux mixture or carbendazim are both acceptable. Control the frequency at once every week, and spraying four or five times in total is enough. Also, pay more attention to ventilation in normal times and improve the environmental conditions.
2. Anthracnose
(1) Specific cause: This disease can also cause some small black spots to appear on the leaves. As the condition worsens, the area of the spots will increase.
(2) Solutions: First, we also need to dispose of the diseased leaves. Second, spray Bordeaux mixture. Also, the management of fertilizer and water is very important. Especially drainage and humidity.
3. Light problem
(1) Specific cause: This plant itself is afraid of strong light. If it is exposed to strong light for a long time, it may also develop spots. If the symptoms are mild, the color is lighter; if severe, black spots will appear.
(2) Solutions: If this is the case, then appropriate shading is needed. Usually, scattered light is enough, and avoid direct light exposure.
