When Does the Bleeding Heart Vine Bloom? A Detailed Guide to Its Flowering Period
I. Flowering Period
This is a plant native to hot regions, and its flowering period is concentrated from March to May each year, the same as most flowers, right at the transition between spring and summer.
II. Care During the Flowering Period
1. Light
During its flower bud differentiation, it is rarely affected by light, but if it can receive strong light, this will benefit its flower bud differentiation and development. Also, be sure to note that if the plant is placed in a dark space for too long, with the temperature kept above 21 degrees for more than a day, the flowers will drop.
2. Fertilizer
When it is blooming, we should choose fertilizer suited to what the flowers consume, such as phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, which can be applied 1 to 2 times during the flowering period. You can also apply diluted decomposed fertilizer water about once a week, for a total of 3 to 4 times, no more and no less.
3. Pruning
During its flowering period, since nutrients are limited, too many buds will cause the flowers to bloom less vibrantly, so at this time you can pinch off the tips and remove the side branches that keep growing, so that more nutrients are distributed to each flower bud.
4. Points to Note
If, due to human factors or weather conditions, it cannot get much light, it will grow rampantly but will absolutely not bloom.
Before its flowering period, you need to moderately increase the amount of flower fertilizer applied, which can provide enough nutrients for it to bloom.
