Growing five-color peppers on the balcony, only to have them stolen as cherries by a mischievous child
Grow five-color peppers like this and one plant can bear 300 fruits - you'll pick until your hands ache
A single five-color pepper plant can produce fruits in 5 colors - red, yellow, purple, white and green - with close to 300 fruits, weighing several jin in total. They're not just high in looks, they're edible too! First, let's see what five-color peppers look like!
They look so much like cherries - no wonder the naughty kid was drooling!
Hurry and grow a five-color pepper plant at home - it's both beautiful and tasty - but remember to watch out for mischievous kids! Huahua will first teach you how to grow it!
1. Soak the seeds
On the right are five-color pepper seeds. Put them in warm water and soak for 5 hours at about 35°C, letting the seeds absorb water and swell.
2. Sow the seeds in the soil
Evenly scatter the seeds on the potting soil, then cover with 1 cm of soil and water thoroughly. During germination, keep the soil moist and water promptly when the soil dries out. If the temperature is low, you can cover with plastic film. After 5-10 days, they will sprout.
3. They can be transplanted after 1 month
Put them in a place with plenty of sunlight. After 1 month, when the seedlings have grown 6 leaves, they can be transplanted. In a relatively large flower pot you can plant 2-4 of them, and water weekly with a little urea water or decomposed cake fertilizer to let the seedlings grow like crazy.
4. After 2 months, flower buds appear
If water and nutrients are sufficient, after 2 months flower buds will appear. Putting them in a well-ventilated place with plenty of light will make them bloom faster.
5. Flowering
After the flower buds appear, wait another half a month and they will bloom. The petals are quite beautiful too.
6. Bearing fruit
If you want the fruits to be abundant and large, apply a little phosphorus fertilizer every week - for example, water more with fish tank water, or bury some bone fragments in the soil - to provide sufficient nutrients for fruit growth. Generally the fruits mature in June, densely packed, and you'll pick until your hands ache!
Eat five-color peppers like this - the more you eat, the more appetizing they get, so satisfying
Five-color peppers look so much like cherries - could they also be sweet and sour? NO, they are very spicy! Today, Huahua will teach everyone to eat five-color peppers pickled - absolutely fragrant, spicy and crisp!
1. Wash the five-color peppers
Rinse the five-color peppers several times with clean water to wash off the dust, then let them dry in a cool, ventilated place. Do not put them in the sun to dry.
2. Put garlic, soy sauce and other ingredients into a glass bottle
Find a clean glass bottle - there should be no oil or water inside. First put the five-color peppers, chopped garlic cloves and rock sugar into the bottle, then add 1 spoon of baijiu, pour in soy sauce until it just covers the five-color peppers, and finally screw the lid on tightly to seal.
3. After 2 weeks they're pickled
Remember to open the lid every day and press the five-color peppers down a bit so the soy sauce keeps covering them. After 2 weeks they're ready to eat. Cook some porridge and go with the fragrant, crisp five-color peppers - you'll drink 2 big bowls more of porridge in one meal!
