This flower has a very beautiful meaning, and many people place it in pots to admire it. It blooms in early spring, with splendid and very romantic flowers, and many lovers travel together to see it during its blooming season. If we also grow it at home, it would truly be a beautiful sight, so how should we care for a cherry blossom bonsai to make it look even better?

1. Potting soil

First, the most important thing is to prepare soil suitable for its growth. If you like doing things by hand, you can mix it yourself: collect some leaves, chicken manure and mud and compost them. This will be very good fertilizer, and both air permeability and drainage will be very good.

2. Pruning

If it is a newly planted cherry blossom bonsai in your home, some branches should be cut off, because at the beginning its nutrients are not yet sufficient. Doing this can produce more branches and make it grow more vigorously. If your bonsai is about to bloom and has many branches, it also needs pruning. Cut off some dead branches and diseased branches. Not only will the potted plant look more beautiful, but the flowers it produces will also be more full of life.

3. Watering

It does not like too much water. If there is still a lot of standing water in your cherry blossom bonsai, you need to drain it away, otherwise the roots of the cherry blossom are easily rotted. If the roots are damaged, then the leaves and flowers cannot escape harm either. The amount of water needed differs by season, and if the sapling is too small, do not pour too much water either.

4. Fertilizing

If an early-stage cherry blossom bonsai needs fertilizing, nitrogen fertilizer should be the main type, which is beneficial to its development. In the later stage, phosphorus fertilizer should be added so that the nutrients will not be excessive and will not affect the growth of flower buds. Always pay attention to the bonsai and do not let it lack nutrients. Fertilize it once a week, so that the tree will have vitality, and the branches, leaves and flower buds will be beautiful. By May and June, you can apply 0.1-0.2 percent potassium dihydrogen phosphate. Fertilizer should be added both before and after the flower buds open, to prepare for the coming year.

5. Pest and disease control

Its main diseases include gummosis and root rot. Once these two conditions are found, the soil should be replaced in time, water and fertilizer should be properly matched, and the branches and leaves that should be removed should be pruned. The insects that appear during its growth include aphids, red spiders and scale insects. Spraying pesticide 3 to 4 times can have a very good effect. It is recommended to spray once before flowering, once after the flowers fall, and a third time in July and August. You must carefully pay attention to the growth of the bonsai, so that the tree can regain its vitality.
