When does the obedient plant bloom? A detailed guide to its flowering period
1. Flowering period: summer
This plant blooms in summer, with spike-like inflorescences gathered into a panicle-like form, growing at the very top of the plant; the corolla is lip-shaped, and the flowers on the lower part open first, gradually opening toward the top, and the flowers are very densely packed. If we push its flowers to one side, they will not return to their original position, which is also the origin of its name.
The flowers come in many colors: light purple, white, pink, and so on, and among the varieties there are also those with markings. The overall impression is fresh and elegantly understated. It is very suitable for planting in courtyards or flower beds and other places, and planting it in large patches is also quite good.
2. Care during the flowering period
① Sunlight: if there is no abundant sunlight for a long time, besides causing the plant to grow leggy, it will also seriously affect its flowering. However, excessively strong sunlight should also be shaded.
② Water: its flowering period is summer. If water supply is insufficient in this season, the plant's growth will be restricted, and it will likewise affect the quality and quantity of the flowers. It should be placed in a spot with good air circulation, and the soil should be kept in a constantly moist state.
③ Nutrients: if you want it to keep blooming throughout the summer, nutrients are also very important. Apply flower fertilizer once every half month, and when the inflorescences are emerging, apply an additional 1 to 2 doses of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer.
