How to care for blue plumbago (Plumbago auriculata) in winter? Master these methods to get it through the winter safely
1. Temperature
Anyone who has grown this flower should know that its ability to resist cold is very weak; generally it cannot survive below zero, so in winter we need to move it indoors, and then find a way to keep the room temperature between five and ten degrees.
Of course, some people do not plant it in a pot but directly in the ground. If we move it into a pot, it must be said that doing this in winter carries a certain risk, because its roots are especially well developed, so they are also easily damaged. So we can cut off all its leaves, leaving only the branches, and then make a frame and put a bag over it. You do not need to feel sorry for it at this point, because only new branches will produce flowers. In addition, we can also build a smaller shed, which can likewise let it get through the winter safely.
2. Soil
If we can ensure its roots have no problems and bring it indoors to grow, then remember to provide it with fertile soil, and the soil needs to be acidic. If you do not know which ones to use, you can use some leaf mold or coarse sandy soil.
3. Light
It likes sunlight, so if it is grown indoors and the temperature can be ensured, you can put it in a sunny spot to grow it; only in this way can it get through the winter safely.
4. Watering
In winter we cannot give it too much water; generally, it is enough just to keep the pot moist.
5. Fertilizing
Normally it needs fertilizer, and all the main elements are required, but in winter there is no need to fertilize.
