What kind of soil is best for growing cyclamen
1. Specific requirements
(1) The first point is looseness. Most plants have this requirement. Only when the flower soil is loose is it beneficial for the plant to breathe. Conversely, if the soil clumps, it is the most unfavorable for the plant's growth.
(2) The second requirement is good drainage. This is because, although this plant likes moisture, it is also afraid of waterlogging. If water accumulates excessively, it is very likely to rot the roots. If the drainage is good, even if you water too much at one time, it can drain away in time.
(3) The third is air permeability, which, like looseness, is also beneficial for breathing.
(4) There is also the nutrients it contains. From growth to flowering, this plant needs a great deal of nutrients, so generally we need to fertilize it regularly. If the chosen soil contains more nutrients, then you can fertilize less.
(5) The last one is about pH. For this plant, slightly acidic soil is the most suitable. However, it should not be too acidic either.
2. Mixing the soil
(1) You can mix leaf mold and garden soil. After mixing them well in a 2 to 1 ratio, add some superphosphate. In this way, the nutrient soil is prepared.
(2) You can also use peat and perlite. Likewise, mix them evenly in a 2 to 1 ratio. Then, prepare river mud, break it up and dry it in the sun, and then mix it in.
3. Points to note
Because it has a relatively large demand for nutrients, you can mix a little base fertilizer into the soil.
