When Does Anthurium Bloom? A Detailed Guide to Anthurium Flowering Season
I. When Can It Bloom
Generally, this plant can bloom after being grown for 1 year. Its flowers are very unique, extremely gorgeous and beautiful, and once it blooms, the flowering can last a long time; it can bloom throughout the entire year.
If grown in water, it can live for a very long time, and in this method its flowering period lasts one month. If planted in soil, its flowering period can last four to six months.
It likes warm areas with water and diffused light. Its growth and flowering require a temperature of 22-30 degrees, and in winter it is best kept above 10 degrees. If summer temperatures exceed 35 degrees, the number of flowers will decrease. Once the temperature exceeds 25 degrees, measures should be taken to place it in a windy, well-ventilated area.
In spring, summer and autumn, it should be given partial shade. It needs at most 70 percent light, so do not place it directly in the sun to be scorched. In winter, place it in a sunny area at home. It loves humid places and needs 70-80% humidity. There should not be too much water in the pot, but it must stay moist. The soil should be acidic, within the range of 4.5-5.0. If the air is very dry, the leaves should be sprayed with water twice a day.
II. How to Promote Flowering
1. Add as little nitrogen fertilizer as possible and more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, so it can bloom faster. Phosphorus is a very important substance that helps the growth of flowers, fruits and seeds. If phosphorus is insufficient, it cannot grow flower buds, and of course it cannot bloom. If the flowering season has arrived and it still has not grown flower buds, you can bury compound fertilizer or other fertilizer high in phosphorus and potassium in the soil.
2. Sufficient light is needed to help flower buds grow. If it is kept in a dark place all year round, it cannot produce nutrients, and flower buds will not be able to grow. You can appropriately move it outdoors to get more sunlight, helping it produce nutrients to grow and bloom.
3. One month before flowering, keep the soil in a dry state, which is beneficial for the growth of flower buds. If you always water too much, it is very easy for it to produce no flowers. Therefore, before flowering, you should control water. Only by creating suitable conditions for it can it bloom.
