What to Do When Golden Pothos Leaves Droop? Causes and Solutions

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
Its leaves are very thick and fleshy, and very emerald green, making it very elegant placed in the home. As an excellent foliage potted plant, it is very suitable for placing in the bedroom, living room, office area and other places. If the plant is small, it can be placed on a desk for viewing. This green plant is cultivated in most places in central and southern parts of our country. A friend of mine also bought one for their home. Originally it was growing very well, and the leaves were very lively, but recently its leaves have drooped down. How should this be prevented and treated?

I. Causes and Solutions

1. It may be improper temperature and humidity. You need to create an environment with a temperature of around 20 degrees for it. Never let it go below 10 degrees. When the weather is relatively cold at the end of the year, you can place it below a heater. The humidity in the air should be maintained at 50%-75%. If it is below 50%, the leaves may droop, and you can increase humidity by sprinkling water.

2. It may be improper lighting. It likes sunlight very much but cannot be exposed to strong direct sunlight. It is best to place it in an area with diffused light. It cannot be placed in a dark area for a long time, otherwise the leaves will look very listless.

3. It may be improper watering. When watering it, it is best to wait until the soil is dry before watering. If it is summer, generally water once every two to three days. If it is winter, generally once every five to seven days.

4. It may be improper fertilizing. When fertilizing it, you should use light fertilizer, mainly nitrogen fertilizer, to help the leaves grow. Apply small amounts frequently. Occasionally you can dilute compound fertilizer with water and use it to water the plant. You can directly buy specialized fertilizer from the market.

II. Precautions

1. If it is infested by pests, it is very likely due to improper care or an unsuitable environment. You need to be attentive during the care process. For pests like red spider mites, spray more water, frequently clean the leaves, or buy professional insecticide to prevent them.

2. It likes a moist environment. Its leaves are large and thin, and it needs relatively more water, so you need to provide a moist environment during its growth process. Especially pay attention in summer: do not let it lack water, but also do not let too much water accumulate, otherwise the roots will have difficulty breathing, rot and die, and the leaves will also become listless.
