Do you like a fresh, soothing shade of green? Do you like vibrant, lively plants? If so, you will surely love this plant too. Take a look at its pictures, and before you know it, you'll be drawn in by its tender green leaves. It is very well suited to hydroponic growing. Then someone will ask: can you keep fish in the water too? If you could, how beautiful it would look! So, can you actually do it or not?

1. Whether it is possible

Because this plant is not toxic, it will not harm the fish, so putting them in together is not a problem. However, in real life, we generally do not keep fish alive in there, and there are many reasons for this.

(1) The first reason is that this plant's root system is very well developed, so the space it takes up is also very large. Then, we can imagine that if it is kept together with fish, they will compete with each other for space, and in the end both will suffer, which is not good.

(2) Second, as we said above, its roots are very well developed, so its respiration in the water will be very strong, and the O2 it consumes will be relatively greater. During the day it is a bit better, since photosynthesis can take place. But at night, only respiration remains. Then, if this continues over the long term, the survival of the fish becomes a problem.

(3) Also, when this plant is grown in water, generally speaking you should not change the water; it is only suitable to add some water. Then the water quality may be a little poorer, and over time it will become less suitable for the fish to survive. However, if you insist on keeping them, there are some issues you need to pay attention to.

2. Points to note

(1) If you keep fish, what we mainly need to consider is whether there is enough O2. So, in order to supply enough, you need to pay attention to the root system of the lucky bamboo. It is best not to let its root system become too well developed.

(2) In addition, if you keep fish, then temperature is a factor we cannot ignore. It is best to set the room temperature a bit higher, keeping it at 18 to 20 degrees.

(3) We can choose fish varieties such as "Molly" and "Guppy". Also, feeding should not be too much; feeding once every two days is enough, and the amount should be smaller too.
