How to germinate bowl lotus seeds? Detailed explanation of the correct method and steps

Its adaptability is extremely strong; it can not only be planted in lakes, but can also be grown at home, which is really quite interesting. Many friends are very fond of this aquatic green plant, because it is interesting in itself and easy to grow, but their understanding of it is not very deep. Next, let us learn about the germination method that everyone is so concerned about.

1. Scarification

Doing this enlarges the notch and gives the seed a larger contact surface with the water, so the seed will swell. Its seed coat is very hard, especially with aged seeds, so it is best to make a small notch for it before soaking. One end of the seed is rather pointed and the other end is the opposite; you can rub the concave end against a rough stone to break it, or use a sharp tool to cut off a little of the coat, but by no means damage the seed flesh inside, and you must not remove the entire coat directly.

2. Soaking in water

After scarification, put the seeds in water at 20 to 40 degrees; the water does not need to be too deep, just enough to submerge the seeds. It is best to change the water two to three times a day, and in only two days it can germinate. After five days, the sprout can grow to 1 cm, and after another five days, it can grow very long.

3. Exposure to light

Once the sprout has grown out, you can let it get some sun, which is very helpful for its growth. After about 3-5 days, leaves can grow, and its stem will keep growing up to the water surface, then the leaves will float on the water surface; these are called floating leaves. During this process, give it plenty of sunlight so it grows fast. Keep the water at 20 to 25 degrees; how fast it grows is closely related to temperature.

4. Moving to a pot

When the first leaf floats up, the second sprout has grown fairly long, and its roots are 2 to 4 cm, you can plant it in a pot. The soil should be prepared in advance; ordinary soil is fine, then you can add a little cake fertilizer, which can be bought at the market. Then pour in water that has been left to stand in advance; if the water is not clean, leave it in the sun for 1 to 3 days first. Then stir the soil and water together, remove the floating debris, wait one or two days and pour off the water on the surface, leaving only the wet soil, then add the sunned water; after half a day, plant the seed that has grown leaves into it, just let the leaves float on the surface.

Note: generally it does not need two months before it can grow out. Put it in a place where it can receive light all year round; in summer it is best to use something to shade it from the light so it does not get sunburned.
