How often should you water a Bromeliad (Guzmania)?
1. Timing
Watering does not need to be particularly frequent. Although it likes humidity, we must pay close attention. Generally speaking, we should water in the morning, not in the middle of the night, especially in winter. Usually, we should water once every week, because this is equivalent to waiting until the moisture has completely dried out.
In summer we need to do it every day, to keep the air from being too dry, and also to prevent the leaves and branches from withering. Because at this time the temperature is relatively high and rather muggy, it is very prone to scorching at this time. In winter, watering cannot be too much, generally needing an interval of 10 or 15 days.
2. Method
There is a particular way to water the parts of the plant. Generally speaking, pouring water into the leaf cup is the correct approach. Because it likes moisture, we need to keep plenty of water in there, and the soil also needs to stay moist.
When watering, we cannot use tap water. If only tap water is available, then it needs to be left in the sun for a few days before use, and watering should start from the top. In winter, when it is dormant, the water needs to be controlled, and you can switch to sprinkling water on its leaves.
When watering, also pay attention: we cannot just pour it into the pot. The order to follow is from top to bottom, so that absorption is better, and if there is no water in the cup, its leaves easily turn yellow.
3. Precautions
In addition, our water quality needs to be guaranteed. After applying fertilizer water, we cannot frequently apply fertilizer water; what should be used is clean water, and we should not water too frequently either. In relatively dry weather or on days when the temperature is relatively low, it easily becomes scorched, so at this time we can spray some water every day, and the cup can be filled with water.
