How to grow Lucky Bamboo? Detailed Guide to Cultivation Methods and Precautions
1. The habits of this plant
(1) First, it likes to grow in a warm environment. Specifically, the most suitable temperature range for it is 18 to 24°C. If kept within this range, it can grow all year round. It is not tolerant of low temperatures; if the temperature drops below 13°C, it will go dormant. If the temperature falls even lower, its roots will take up too little water, causing brown spots to appear on the leaf tips and edges. Therefore, in winter, the temperature must stay above 10°C.
(2) Also, it needs light and cannot be kept in overly shaded conditions. However, too strong light is equally unacceptable. If exposed to harsh sun, its leaves may turn yellow or its growth rate may slow down.
(3) Then there is fertilizer, for which it has certain requirements at specific stages.
2. Specific methods
(1) Temperature: If grown in a relatively warm place, there is basically no need to worry, and it can grow all year round. However, in places with high altitude or high latitude, attention is needed, especially once winter arrives. When temperatures begin to drop in late autumn, cold protection is essential.
(2) Light: It is best to place it somewhere with indirect light, not too shady, and not in direct sunlight. In summer, if the light feels too strong, shade it appropriately.
(3) Fertilizer: When the plant first begins to root, apply a small amount of compound fertilizer, which will give its leaves a glossy sheen. In addition, a small amount of nutrient solution can be applied every three weeks.
3. Precautions
When fertilizing, do not apply too much, and do not make it too concentrated. Otherwise, the plant's leaves will lose their gloss.
