Reasons for Blackened Leaves on Lucky Bamboo and Solutions
1. Water quality problems
(1) Cause: Blackened leaves are most likely caused by problems with the water used for watering. Specifically, if the water quality is alkaline, then it may affect its absorption of nutrients, causing its leaves to appear black.
(2) Solution: We had best water the plant with clean water, and mixing in some aqueous solution of compound fertilizer is also acceptable.
2. Disease problems
(1) Cause: There is a disease that can cause the plant's leaves to turn black, called "brown spot disease," or "black spot disease." It is caused by a fungus and is relatively common. Generally speaking, the blackening phenomenon starts from the lower leaves. In the early stage of the disease, some dark brown small spots will appear on the leaf surface. As the disease develops, these spots will connect into a large patch, and the color will deepen. This disease can occur all year round, is most serious in summer, and is also relatively harmful.
(3) Solution: First, we must cut off the diseased leaves and gather them together for disposal. In addition, some chlorothalonil solution can be sprayed. Also, when the temperature is high and the humidity is also high, try not to use flower fertilizer containing the element N. At this time, it is best to apply a certain amount of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer.
3. Watering problems
(1) Cause: If too much water is given, this phenomenon can also be caused. The roots will be the first to be harmed, becoming rotten. Then, it will show on the leaf area, and they may turn black.
(2) Solution: Adjust watering. Wait until the potting soil is dry before watering. If it is still not dry, you can temporarily hold off on watering. In addition, when watering, try not to let it splash onto the leaves.
