Pig Prices and Market Conditions Across China in March 2017
According to statistics from the Data Research Department, what were the pig farming market prices across China in March 2017? On March 28, 2017, the average price of foreign three-way cross pigs in all provinces nationwide was 16.12 yuan/kg, basically flat compared with yesterday and up 0.24 yuan/kg compared with the same period last week (March 21).
Today, within the scope of 27 provinces and municipalities directly under the Central Government nationwide, a total of 13 provinces saw pig prices rise and 12 provinces saw pig prices fall. The highest price nationwide was in Guizhou, down 0.02 yuan/kg from yesterday to 17.34 yuan/kg; the lowest price nationwide was in Heilongjiang, down 0.01 yuan/kg from yesterday to 14.91 yuan/kg. Liaoning and Shanxi were flat compared with yesterday.
Pig prices in some regions today: Sichuan 8.2-8.5 yuan/jin, Henan 7.7-8.0 yuan/jin, Jiangxi 7.9-8.1 yuan/jin, Guangdong 8.0-8.2 yuan/jin, Hunan 8.1-8.3 yuan/jin, Shandong 7.8-8.0 yuan/jin, Hubei 8.0-8.2 yuan/jin, Hebei 7.7-8.0 yuan/jin, Beijing 7.7-8.0 yuan/jin, Liaoning 7.4-7.7 yuan/jin.
Today the average pig price rose slightly, and the scope of pig price adjustments continued to expand. Market demand is weak, the live pig market has not truly improved, and the continued rebound in pig prices lacks momentum. Slaughterhouses can still meet daily production with their purchases, have no willingness to raise prices further, and are increasingly adopting a wait-and-see attitude. It is expected that in the short term pig prices will mainly fluctuate within a small range, with a moderate strengthening in the very short term.
