A Detailed Guide to the Sanitary Protection Distance and Wastewater Treatment Methods for Ecological Pig Farms
Pork is an indispensable ingredient in our daily lives, and the vast market has driven the construction of pig farms. So what sanitary protection distance is required during the process? How should the wastewater produced be treated? What methods are there? These should be the questions everyone encounters when building a pig farm. Let's take a look at the specific details below.
What is the sanitary protection distance
The sanitary protection distance is the minimum distance from the boundary of the production unit that generates occupational hazardous factors (production area, workshop or work section) to the boundary of the residential area.
So what is the sanitary protection distance for a pig farm
According to the "Sanitary Standard for Village and Town Planning" (GB18055-2000)
| Pig farm (head) | Sanitary protection distance (m) |
| 500~10000 | 200~800 |
| 10000~25000 | 800~10000 |
And according to the "Technical Specifications for Pollution Prevention and Control of Livestock and Poultry Breeding", issued by the Guangdong Environmental Protection Department: newly built, renovated, or expanded livestock and poultry farms should be at least 500 meters downwind from urban and town residential areas, restricted zones legally designated by county-level people's governments, and other such areas. Therefore, it should first be clarified whether the area where the project is located belongs to the above-mentioned areas. If not, a reasonable protection distance from surrounding residential areas can be determined based on the environmental impact assessment. So the sanitary protection distance for pig farms may vary slightly from region to region.
Wastewater treatment methods for pig farms
1. Use buried wastewater treatment equipment
2. Bar screen interception treatment, filtration and screening treatment, regulation treatment, anaerobic reaction treatment, anaerobic sedimentation treatment, alkaline addition treatment, aeration treatment, phosphorus removal treatment, AO process treatment and MBR treatment.
3. Rainwater and sewage separation treatment, dry and wet separation treatment, solid-liquid separation treatment and purification treatment
4. Regardless of what process and measures are adopted to treat pig farm breeding wastewater, a certain pretreatment method should be adopted. Using pretreatment methods can reduce the load of wastewater pollutants in subsequent treatment steps, while preventing large solids or debris from entering subsequent treatment stages and causing blockage or damage to treatment equipment. For the large particulate components in manure, pig farms can use solid-liquid separation techniques such as sedimentation, filtration and centrifugation to achieve pretreatment. Common bar screens, sedimentation tanks and screens all fall into this category. Sedimentation is one of the most widely used methods in wastewater treatment, a process in which suspended solids naturally settle under gravity and separate from water. At present, pig farms with wastewater treatment facilities among large-scale pig farms basically connect 2-3 sedimentation tanks in series, treating manure through filtration, sedimentation and oxidative decomposition. In addition, some mechanical filtration equipment including automatic rotary drum filters and centrifugal disc separators can also be used in the pretreatment step of pig farm manure. All wastewater treatment methods must comply with the "Technical Specifications for Pollution Prevention and Control of Livestock and Poultry Breeding" issued by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the People's Republic of China
