Sturgeon is a vertebrate with an early origin in China and belongs to the carnivorous animals, so the food it eats is relatively narrow, but if farmed artificially, it can be fed with related compound feed. So what feed do sturgeon eat to grow? How much feed is needed to gain one jin? How much does it cost per ton?

Sturgeon feed price:

The price of sturgeon feed depends on whether the quality is good or bad. Generally around 8000 yuan/ton. The growth rate is related to the specification; for commercial sturgeon in flowing water culture, gaining 1 jin of sturgeon requires 1.2-1.5 jin of feed.

Besides eating feed, sturgeon also eats other foods:

1. Sturgeon is a benthic fish with a very narrow feeding habit and belongs to carnivorous fish. It mainly feeds on some small or slow-moving benthic animals. In the ocean, it mainly feeds on fish, followed by crustaceans, and less on mollusks. Juvenile sturgeon in estuary areas mainly feed on benthic fish of the genera Snake Goby and Pupa, as well as krill and clams, and generally stop feeding during the spawning period.

2. Sturgeon is an animal-eating fish. During the initial feeding stage of juvenile fish, it can prey on zooplankton, but the fry soon develop into a benthic lifestyle. Adapting to this lifestyle, the mouth of the sturgeon at this time is protruding and inferior. The food that sturgeon likes varies with different species. The main foods are aquatic earthworms, crustaceans, mollusks and small fish, etc. After the sturgeon fry start feeding, artificial compound feed can be directly fed. In actual production, live bait is often used for sturgeon fry that have just started feeding.

3. Under artificial breeding conditions, sturgeon larvae begin to feed when they reach a total length of 3.05±0.07 cm, mainly feeding on aquatic oligochaetes, chironomid larvae, cladocerans and copepods; juvenile sturgeon mainly feed on aquatic oligochaetes (water silk worms, trembling worms, tail-gill worms, etc.), cladocerans (Daphnia pulex, Daphnia carinata, etc.), aquatic insect larvae (chironomid larvae) and shrimps, etc.; adult sturgeon mainly feed on various feed fish pieces (such as crucian carp, tilapia, silver carp and grass carp, etc.).

Feed selection:

1. Main raw materials: The main raw materials of sturgeon feed include imported fishmeal, extruded soybean, yeast, imported fish oil, flour, stabilized multivitamins, organic chelated multiminerals, etc. When these raw materials enter the factory, they are all inspected and checked one by one by laboratory technicians before being unloaded. If they fail to meet the standard, they will be rejected.

2. Characteristics of sturgeon feed: When choosing sturgeon feed, we must choose an optimized formula design, with comprehensive and balanced nutrition, good palatability, strong feeding attraction, excellent cost performance, and a low feed conversion ratio, which can meet the needs of rapid growth of sturgeon. We should also choose feed that does not add false protein ingredients, does not contain any prohibited drugs, avoids polluting the breeding environment, and ensures the healthy growth of fish. In order for the fish to have strong disease resistance, we should also choose feed with added immunity enhancers to promote the rapid absorption of nutrients and strengthen the physique. Only by choosing these can your fish grow well and healthily.

3. Nutritional indicators: Sturgeon feed can be divided into three stages for feeding. Choose feed with the corresponding particle size according to the size of the sturgeon. If the choice is too large or too small, it is not conducive to the growth requirements of the fish. The feed is divided into three stages: sturgeon juvenile fish, sturgeon growth, and sturgeon fattening. Sturgeon juvenile fish feed is suitable for the juvenile stage, with crude protein greater than or equal to 42%, crude fiber less than or equal to 8%, crude ash less than or equal to 16%, calcium content 0.5-1.5, phosphorus content 0.8-1.5, salt content 0.5-2.0, moisture less than or equal to 12%, and lysine greater than or equal to 2.5%.

These meet the healthy growth needs suitable for sturgeon juvenile fish. Sturgeon growth feed is suitable for the adult fish stage, with crude protein 2% less than the juvenile stage and lysine 0.5% less than the juvenile stage. Other indicators are the same. Sturgeon fattening feed is suitable for the adult fish stage, with crude protein 2% less than the sturgeon growth stage and lysine 0.2% less than the sturgeon growth stage. Other indicators are the same. As long as the feed meets these nutritional indicators, choose the needed variety according to the corresponding applicable stage for your fish.
