What is the difference between white flower fish and yellow croaker?

Baihua fish:

There is a ventral keel between the base of the pelvic fins and the anus; the dorsal fin has a strong and smooth hard spine; the caudal fin is forked, with the lower lobe slightly longer than the upper lobe. The back is slightly bluish-gray, the sides are silvery white, and the fins are grayish-black. It usually lives in the middle and upper layers of flowing water and large water bodies, swims swiftly, and is good at jumping. It feeds on small fish and is a ferocious fish.

Yellow croaker:

Large yellow croaker: the body is nearly rectangular and laterally compressed, with the front part of the dorsal and ventral margins convex and the rear part low. The body length is about 30-plus cm. Small yellow croaker: similar in shape to the large yellow croaker but smaller. The body length is about 20 cm. Lateral line scales 60-63. Dorsal fin IX 34-36, with its origin opposite the origin of the pectoral fin.

Is Baihua fish a sea fish? Does it have many bones?

Female Baihua fish reach sexual maturity at 3 years of age, and males at 2 years. Parent fish gather in groups in slow-flowing river bends or shallow lake areas from June to August for breeding activities. After spawning, most enter lakes to feed or fatten in slow-flowing areas of river bends. Juveniles prefer to inhabit nearshore lake waters and slower-flowing river banks, as well as tributaries, channels, and harbors. In winter, both large and small fish overwinter in riverbeds or lake troughs. It has relatively many bones, so be careful when eating.

Appendix: How to identify the authenticity of yellow croaker

1. First, look at the fish's appearance, size, and shape. Authentic yellow croaker has a long oval body, a relatively large head, a relatively slender caudal peduncle, a yellow-brown body, a golden-yellow belly, yellow or grayish-yellow fins, an orange-red lip, and small round scales covering more than two-thirds of the base of the dorsal and anal fin rays.

2. Second, look at the color. Most counterfeit yellow croaker on the market today is directly coated with pigment. Real yellow croaker has a lighter, softer yellow color, while the color of fake yellow croaker is generally heavier.

3. Third, rub it with your hands. For dyed fish, wiping the fish body with white toilet paper will generally leave an obvious yellow mark on the paper; and for dyed fish frozen into a large block, some ice surfaces will also appear yellow.

4. Yellow croaker is also known as yellow fish. It lives in the East China Sea. There are two hard stones in the fish's head, called otoliths, hence it is also known as stone-head fish. The white swim bladder in the fish's belly can be made into fish glue, which has a hemostatic effect and can prevent hemorrhagic purpura.
