How Much Is Sardine per Jin? A Detailed Guide to Its Nutritional Value and Delicious Recipes
Sardine is the collective name for fish in the class Osteichthyes, order Clupeiformes, family Clupeidae, including the genera Sardina, Sardinella and Sardinops, as well as certain edible fish of the family Clupeidae. So, how much is sardine per jin? How do you cook it to make it tasty? What nutritional value does it have?
1. The price of sardine
Sardine grows fast and reproduces strongly, so its price is relatively cheap, usually around 16 yuan per jin, and a can costs only about ten yuan, yet contains at least about five sardines. In the market, sardines are rarely sold by the jin; most are sold by the ton or by the box, 10 kg per box, from 129 yuan for 1 to 10 boxes, from 119 yuan for 11 to 99 boxes, and from 108 yuan for about 100 boxes.
2. How to cook sardine
1. Soft-fried sardine
①Thaw the sardines, remove the scales, clean out the insides, and wash them for later use. ②Put an appropriate amount of salt, cooking wine and ginger slices into the cleaned sardines and marinate for about half an hour. ③Coat the surface of the marinated fish evenly with a layer of flour. ④Pour an appropriate amount of cooking oil into the pan; when the oil is 70% hot, add the sardines and fry over low heat, turning them over promptly on both sides. ⑤Fry until golden brown, then take them out of the pan.
2. Tomato sardine
①Wash the sardines and drain the water. Wash the tomatoes and cut them into small diamond-shaped pieces for later use. ②Put a little oil in the pan, heat it, add the tomatoes and stir-fry, then add the sardines and stir-fry briefly, add tomato paste and salt, then add water (the amount of water should cover the sardines by about five cm). ③Stew over high heat for five or six minutes, then stew over low heat for thirty minutes. If you have a pressure cooker, stir-frying the tomatoes and sardines and then pressure-cooking for ten minutes gives an even better result.
3. Spicy sardine
①Remove the innards from the sardines, wash them and put them in a basin, add salt and marinate for 20 minutes. ②Chop the garlic and ginger into a fine paste, put them in a sauce dish together with chopped dried chili peppers, pour in one spoonful of cooking wine and a little soy sauce and mix into a seasoning sauce for later use. ③Drain the marinated sardines and dust them with a thin layer of cornstarch. Heat the pan, turn to low heat, pour in oil, then quickly spread the dusted sardines evenly in the pan, then rotate the pan so the sardines are heated evenly; when the bottom of the sardines is fried until golden, turn the sardines over so the other side is also fried until golden. ④After both sides of the fish are thoroughly fried, pour the seasoning sauce down the side of the pan into it, then drizzle with chopped scallions, gently turn the sardines with a spatula so they are evenly coated with the ginger-garlic paste, and they are ready to serve.
4. Braised sardine in soy sauce
①Clean the sardines, remove the scales and take out the innards, marinate with a little salt to remove moisture, wash the scallions and cut into sections, wash the ginger and garlic, peel and slice them, wash the cilantro and chop it, soak the dried chili peppers in water and cut into sections. ②Heat the pan with cold oil, add the sardines, fry until both sides are firm and golden, and push the fish to one side. ③Add the scallion sections, garlic, ginger slices, Sichuan peppercorns, star anise, dried chili peppers and salt, stir-fry until fragrant, and mix the fish together with the fragrant seasonings. ④Sprinkle white sugar, cooking wine and soy sauce over the fish, add water until it covers two-thirds of the fish. ⑤Bring to a boil over high heat, turn to low heat, add tomato paste and simmer until the sauce is thick, then reduce the sauce over high heat and sprinkle with chopped cilantro.
