The pig farming industry is an important sector of agriculture in our country. How much does it cost to build an eco-friendly pig farm now?

Take a pig farm in Jiangshan, Quzhou as an example:

1. The fermentation bed of the pig farm measures 42m*24m*1.4m; the fermentation workshop covers 1000 sq m (including over 200 sq m of shifting racks and a sewage collection tank), with a civil construction cost of about 300 yuan/sq m. The total volume of bedding material is 1036 m3, and about 40 m3 of fermentation bed can treat 1 ton of wastewater.

2. The fermentation bed bedding material consists of rice husks, sawdust and bacterial inoculant, with a rice husk to inoculant ratio of 6:4. Each 1 m3 of fermentation bed bedding requires 250 grams of inoculant.

3. The market price of rice husks and sawdust is 400 yuan/ton, and 250 grams of inoculant costs about 15 yuan at market price. Each cubic meter consumes 10 grams of inoculant per month (0.3-0.4 yuan per pig). A complete set of turning machines costs over 200,000 yuan, runs 3 hours/day, with a total power of 22KW. One each of sewage suction pump, connecting pipes, sewage collection tank and homogenization tank; labor monthly wage is 3,000-4,000 yuan.

What are the site selection conditions and precautions for a pig farm?

Choosing the site for a pig farm is the primary task in building one. Proper site selection and reasonable architectural planning and layout can facilitate production management and better realize pig farming benefits. The following 5 aspects should be noted in pig farm site selection:

1. Terrain and topography: The overall site requirements are high and dry terrain, good drainage, sheltered from the wind and facing the sun, and a neat and open topography. The ground should be flat with a slight gentle slope, preferably 1%-3%, and no more than 25% at maximum. There must be sufficient area, generally calculated at 40-50 sq m per breeding sow and 3-4 sq m per commercial pig.

2. Water source and water quality: Sufficient water quantity and good water quality (meeting drinking water hygiene standards) are required.

In large-scale pig farms using the dry manure cleaning process, the total water supply per hundred basic sows must not be less than 20 tons/day (it can be increased by 25% in hot seasons and dry areas).

3. Soil and soil texture: Sandy loam soil is the most ideal, as it is beneficial to pig health and sanitation and epidemic prevention.

4. Power supply and transportation: Sufficient power supply is required. Generally, large pig farms should be powered by a secondary power supply network and equipped with generators. The pig farm should be located in a place with convenient transportation, more than 1000 meters from main traffic lines (railways and national and provincial roads), more than 500 meters from major traffic routes, and no less than 50-100 meters from rural roads. For small and medium-sized pig farms, the above distances can be appropriately smaller, but the distance from main traffic lines must not be less than 100 meters. Pig houses of professional pig farmers should also be more than 20 meters from residences.

5. Surrounding environment: An appropriate distance should be maintained between the pig farm and village and town residential areas, factories and other livestock and poultry farms to avoid mutual contamination. Generally, pig farms should be more than 500 meters away, and large pig farms more than 1000 meters away. Within 1000 meters around, there should be no chemical plants, slaughterhouses, tanneries, paper mills, mines or other enterprises likely to cause environmental pollution. In recent years, more and more people are returning to or going to rural areas, and they urgently need to find land in rural areas for projects, which has given rise to “land brokers.” “Land brokers” mainly earn intermediary fees from growers or investors. At present, Tuliu Group is recruiting land transfer service providers nationwide and building land transfer service centers. (For details, click the link: https://xiangmu.tuliu.com/)
