This flower is a aquatic green plant that can survive for many years. Its stem growing in the mud is very thick and sturdy, and it can be eaten. It has a crisp and tender texture, and many people like this taste. Its flowering period is from June to September. The flowers grow at the top and have many petals, in colors such as white and pink, and its fruit is also very delicious. Its leaves are very large, as big as a basin, and look very spectacular. So when do its leaves usually wither?

1. When do they wither

Its leaves naturally wither from October to November. It grows new leaves from March to April, begins flowering from May to August, and a single flower can last two to five days. After flowering, it produces fruit. By October to November, the stems and leaves begin to wither. Then in the spring of the following year, a new round of life begins.

If it is in the Yangtze River region, it grows leaves from late March to early April, grows flowers from late April to early May, blooms from June to August, and its leaves turn yellow and wither from October to November. After November, growth temporarily stops. It generally grows in lakes, and its presence can be seen in many parks.

2. Growth habits

It grows in water, and in water with little flow, which is its favorite place. Different varieties have different water requirements. The relatively large ones need deeper water, such as Red Thousand Petals, but it cannot be higher than 1.7 m. Relatively smaller varieties only need water 20 to 60 cm deep, and this type is suitable for growing at home.

It cannot leave water. If you grow it at home, as long as you do not add water for it for more than three hours in summer, its leaves will wither. If there is no water for a whole day, the leaves will scorch and the flowers will wither. It likes sunlight very much and cannot leave the sun throughout its entire growth process, and it does not like shady places.

3. Care tips

1. Water

In the early stage of its growth, the water cannot exceed 3 cm, because if it is too deep, it is difficult to maintain the temperature of the soil at the bottom. If you are not using clean water, let it sit in the sun for one or two days first. Summer is when it grows fastest, and the tank absolutely must not be without water. After winter, it should also be kept in a moist state.

2. Fertilizer

It needs phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, and only a very small amount of nitrogen fertilizer. If the soil quality is very good, no fertilizer is needed for a whole year. You can add animal manure to it, but not too much, and it must be mixed with the soil. When winter comes, it should be moved indoors, or buried in the soil.
