What do domestic ducklings eat to grow fast? Feed prices and whether they can be raised together with fish
Ducks are a relatively common type of poultry in our country, and they are quite popular because they are rich in vitamins and niacin. They can be eaten by the general population. So what do domestic ducklings eat to grow fast? How much does a bag of feed generally cost? Can they be raised together with fish?
What do domestic ducklings eat?
Domestic ducklings should eat small tadpoles. Ducklings that specifically eat earthworms and lake fry grow large and strong, and their water color also looks very nice. But eating lake fry gives a nice water color, because eating earthworms makes them strong and large. Earthworms are sold in fishing tackle shops. Besides these two, they also need to eat vegetable leaves. Ducklings that eat these three types of food grow very well. However, after ducks eat these three types of food, you can also feed them a little cooked rice and often take them out to play, putting them in the grass to find food on their own.
Specific feeding techniques:
1. First feeding. Before the first feeding, give them water first, at a water temperature of about 20°C. For the first drinking water, add 0.04% potassium permanganate to the water, and feed once every 1.5 to 2 hours. Each time, only feed them to about 80 to 90% full. Use half-cooked rice, soak it in clean water, and remove the stickiness. After draining the water, mix in 1.5 to 2% white sugar, and let the ducklings peck at it, sprinkling while they eat, twice a day.
2. Spring: Keep the duck house dry and well ventilated, change the bedding straw frequently, and do a good job of disinfection and cleaning. Add artificial light for 4 to 5 hours every day. To help achieve high and stable production, the crude protein content in the daily ration should reach 18%, and the metabolizable energy should reach 11.3 to 11.7 megajoules per kilogram, with green feed and concentrate each accounting for 50%. When the female ducks begin laying, mix 1 kilogram of honey into 50 kilograms of feed and feed continuously for 3 days, then stop for 2 weeks and feed again for 3 days.
3. Summer: Do a good job of preventing heatstroke and cooling down. Remove the straw curtains around the duck house to help air circulation. Persist in letting the ducks out early and shutting them in late, do not drive the ducks into the house in the evening, and only drive them in at 23:00 to 24:00 at night. Ensure the duck flock has sufficient drinking water, preferably well water. For young ducks, avoid too high a protein content in the daily ration, so as to prevent premature aging and a shortened laying period. Feed more coarse feed and green feed to prevent sexual precocity.
Latest prices of duck feed:
Medium and large meat duck feed is the cheapest among feeds, at 88 yuan per bag. The price of layer duck feed varies according to the growth stage of the laying ducks and the region. For example, the cheapest large meat duck feed is about 100 yuan.
How to choose suitable feed?
1. Pellet feed. Complete-price pellet compound feed is convenient to feed, allows ducks to eat enough and eat well, and can also reduce waste. It is most commonly used in intensive farming, and some free-range households are also accustomed to using pellet feed for ducks. If the powder content in the pellet feed is high, it will affect the growth of the duck flock and cause waste. Pellet feed types are generally divided into two-phase feed: brooding feed (1 to 21 days of age) and fattening feed (21 days of age to market). There is also three-phase feed, that is, adding a late-stage feed before the suitable market age of 7 weeks.
2. Powder feed. Generally, concentrated feed is purchased from a feed company, and corn or wheat middlings, broken rice, etc. are added in a certain proportion to prepare it yourself. When using it, mix it with water, fully and evenly mixing it, from less to more, mixing level by level. When about to use it, it is best if it does not form a lump when squeezed by hand and then released. This kind of feed has good palatability, but it has many disadvantages: first, it is labor-intensive; second, it is easy to waste; third, leftover feed is prone to souring and spoilage in hot weather; fourth, if it is not mixed evenly, it can easily lead to metabolic diseases or toxic diseases.
Can they be raised together with fish?
1. Ducks can be raised together with fish, and the fish species stocked should be appropriate. In ponds with mixed fish-duck farming, the main species should be tilapia, followed by filter-feeding silver carp, bighead carp, and omnivorous common carp, crucian carp, etc. As for grass carp, because they prefer quiet water bodies, they should not be stocked or should be stocked only in small numbers.
2. Do a good job with the irrigation and drainage system of the fish pond. After ducks are raised in a fish pond, duck manure easily causes the water quality to become too fertile. In this way, fish are prone to infection with diseases, or pond-wide fish kills may occur. Therefore, clean water needs to be regularly added and flushed into the fish pond. If the irrigation and drainage system is poor, clean water cannot be added and fertile water cannot be drained out, which will affect the normal growth of the fish.
3. Pay attention to changes in the water quality of the fish pond. According to the water quality of the fish pond, appropriately adjust the stocking density of fish and ducks. When the water transparency of the fish pond is maintained at 15 to 25 cm, 2500 to 2700 fish of various species can be stocked per mu of water surface, and 200 to 300 ducks can be raised. If the water transparency decreases, clean water should be added and flushed in time, generally once every 7 to 10 days.
