Because of its rich nutrition and ornamental value, it is artificially farmed. So what kind of fish is the Chinese high-fin banded loach? What does it eat to grow up? Fish poop? How much does it cost per jin on the market? How do you keep it?

The Chinese high-fin banded loach, also known as yellow row, blood row and so on, is a national second-class rare protected fish species and grows in the Yangtze River system of China. It depends extremely heavily on the wild water environment, and once taken out of the Yangtze River it will certainly die.

Is the Chinese high-fin banded loach a protected animal? The Chinese high-fin banded loach is vulnerable. It is a national Class II protected wild animal of China. The number of wild individuals of the Chinese high-fin banded loach is declining year by year.

What does it eat? Fish poop?

The Chinese high-fin banded loach prefers to move in the middle and bottom of the water body and cannot tolerate low oxygen. Its body shape is peculiar, especially the young fish, which has a unique body shape and swims quietly, and it will change body color with changes in mood; it feeds frequently and is an omnivore, able to eat regardless of the state of the food, and its food includes brine shrimp, red earthworms and vegetables. The Chinese high-fin banded loach is an egg-laying animal, but there has not yet been successful breeding in an aquarium environment. When the male fish approaches the female fish, nodules appear on the head and fins.

Feed and feeding: feeding with water fly larvae gives the best breeding effect. In actual production, according to the feed source, mainly feed locally easily obtained snail and mussel meat, small fish and shrimp, livestock and poultry viscera, or artificially cultivated live feed such as terrestrial earthworms and fly maggots to reduce costs. During large-scale farming, they can be trained to eat artificial compound feed. According to its characteristic of having high requirements for both crude protein and crude fat, artificial compound feed can be prepared by oneself. Some units mix animal minced meat with bran, soybean powder, rice bran and other widely available feed and feed it together for a long time, and the effect is also relatively ideal.

The daily feeding rate varies according to the season. Generally, from April to May the daily feeding amount is 3-5% of body weight, from June to August 5-8%, from September to October 3-5%, from November to December 1-2%, and from January to March a small amount is fed. If the feed given is fresh wet feed, then increase it correspondingly by 2-3%. In actual operation, the daily feeding amount should also be flexibly controlled according to the weather, water temperature, dissolved oxygen and the feeding situation of the pond fish, following the “four fixed” principle, to ensure they eat evenly, eat well and eat their fill.

Latest market price:

According to the price conditions in different cities, an ordinary Chinese high-fin banded loach costs about 30-40 yuan per jin. If it is wild, it costs about more than one hundred, and if it is in a tourist area, it costs about three or four hundred.

The Chinese high-fin banded loach was once an edible fish species, and is now a national Class II protected animal. Its number is even smaller than that of some Class I protected animals, so protection must be strengthened. At present, those sold on the market are all young fish, commonly known as “smooth sailing”, taking its auspicious meaning. Because it is huge in size after adulthood and its number is extremely small, this fish is mostly sent to the Yangtze River and Min River basins to be released after it grows up.

Farming technology:

1. Pond conditions: except for fertile water ponds and ponds that cannot guarantee harvest in drought or flood, general farming ponds can be used to farm the Chinese high-fin banded loach. Before stocking the fish fry, the pond must be cleaned up, excess mud removed, leaving 20-25 cm is enough; reinforce the pond slopes and pond ridges, fill and plug leaks; improve the water inlet and drainage system. The water inlet and outlet of the pond are required to have firm and reliable anti-escape facilities, which can effectively prevent farmed fish from escaping and wild miscellaneous fish from entering. In addition, during the farming process, an adequate water source and fresh water quality are required, and it is best to be equipped with mechanical equipment such as oxygenators and irrigation.

2. Fry stocking: it should be completed before March. The size of the stocked fry should be above 50 grams, and the fry in the same pond should be as uniform in size as possible. Stock 400-600 large-size fry per mu. In addition, match with 100-200 silver carp and a small number of grass carp, bream and so on. Depending on the situation, 800-1000 summer fry of the Chinese high-fin banded loach can also be polycultured. When mixed farming, with other fish as the main fish, the Chinese high-fin banded loach is used as a bottom-layer matching fish, stocking 100-200 large-size Chinese high-fin banded loach fry per mu. Because of the Chinese high-fin banded loach's characteristics of being gentle in nature, dwelling on the bottom and being carnivorous, when farming, note that it is not suitable to mix-farm it in the same pond with carp, crucian carp or other ferocious carnivorous fish.

3. Feed and feeding: feeding with water fly larvae gives the best breeding effect. 4. Daily management:

(1) Frequent pond patrols: at least 3 times a day, observe their feeding, swimming and changes in the pond water, check the water inlet and drainage facilities, and especially when the weather changes suddenly and a storm is coming, strengthen patrols and deal with problems promptly when found. Frequently wash the feed table, and every day scoop out residual feed, dirt and dead fish from the water to prevent water pollution.

(2) Water quality management: change the water frequently. Under normal circumstances, a small change can be made every week, changing and refilling 0.3; a large change every half month, changing and refilling 2/3. As the fish grow, the water quality gradually becomes fertile, so appropriately increase the number of water changes. In the high-temperature season, water should be changed every day, and the oxygenator should be turned on at regular times to keep the pond water rich in dissolved oxygen, with transparency above 40 cm, which can promote the appetite of the farmed fish and reduce the occurrence of disease. In addition, while regularly sprinkling quicklime, bleaching powder and other disinfectants to regulate the water body, farmers with the conditions may as well apply photosynthetic bacteria, EM bacterial liquid and other improvers to the pond, which is very effective for improving the oxygen supply at the bottom of the pond and improving the water body environment.
