An aeration machine is a device often used in the fishery aquaculture industry. There are also quite a few types of aeration machine products, and choosing a suitable aeration machine helps achieve good economic efficiency. So what kinds of aeration machines are used in aquaculture? Roughly how much does one cost? How should you choose? According to Shandong Machinery Co., Ltd., prices vary with the size, model and brand of the aeration machine, ranging from several hundred to several thousand.

What kinds of aeration machines are used in aquaculture? How should you choose?

“Water, seed, feed and management” are the “four elements” of aquaculture, and the correct use of pond aeration machines involves two important indicators: pond water quality and aquaculture management. In actual aquaculture production, if an aeration machine is used correctly and skillfully, it can achieve twice the result with half the effort.

1. Impeller-type aeration machine

This type of aeration machine uses the principles of stirring the water body and aeration to increase the dissolved oxygen content in the water. It has a good aeration effect, high power efficiency and a large service area, but it is relatively noisy. When working, the impeller rotates and stirs the water body, causing upper and lower water layers to convect, sending oxygen-rich surface water to the bottom layer and lifting bottom water upward. It requires a pond water depth of 1.5-2 m. This type of aeration machine comes in many models according to motor power.

2. Paddlewheel-type aeration machine

When this type of aeration machine works, the blades strike the water at high speed, churning air into the water to achieve the purpose of aeration. Its power effect is good and its pushing-and-mixing effect is relatively strong, and it does not stir up bottom mud, but it is noisy, tends to form water mist, and has a relatively high mechanical failure rate. Its aeration power efficiency is 180 g/kw.h. This type of aeration machine is suitable for shallow ponds and large-water-surface aquaculture.

3. Jet-type aeration machine

This type of aeration machine is formed by combining a submersible pump and a jet pipe. When working, water in the pump shoots out at high speed from the nozzle inside the jet pipe, generating negative pressure and drawing in air; water and air mix in the mixing chamber and are then forced out through the diffusion pipe, and dissolved oxygen spreads along with the water flow in a straight direction. It has a good aeration effect, no noise and high dissolved oxygen content, but its service water surface is not large. Its aeration power efficiency is 380-1420 g/kW.h, and it is suitable for high-density aquaculture and deep-water fish pond aquaculture.

4. Inflation-type aeration machine

The main unit of this type of aeration machine is an air compressor or blower. Pressurized air is discharged through sand filter cores or microporous plastic pipes installed at the bottom of the water, forming tiny bubbles, and part of the oxygen dissolves into the water as the bubbles rise. This machine has strong aeration capacity and significantly saves electricity. Its aeration power efficiency is 230 g/kW.h, and it is suitable for deep-water and large-area fish ponds.

5. Water-spraying aeration machine

This type of aeration machine uses a water pump to send water to sprinkler heads installed in the middle of the fish pond and on the bank, so that the water sprays out and falls like rain, thereby contacting the air to increase the concentration of dissolved oxygen in the water. Its aeration power efficiency is 130-220 g/kW.h, and it is only suitable for shallow small fish ponds.

6. Oxygen-gathering activated aeration machine

This type of aeration machine not only has a good aeration effect on sewage, but can also project the sewage in a convective form toward deeper and more distant service waters, leaving no dead zones in the entire sewage pond. This model can be selected for places with relatively serious pollution.

There are also many other types of aeration machines, such as oil-free permanent magnet DC aeration machines and dissolved-oxygen self-controlled aeration machines. In short, when selecting an aeration machine, first pay attention to the product model and quality, second consider aeration efficiency, and third, according to production needs, choose two kinds of aeration machines to use together to achieve twice the result with half the effort. For example, at present most pond fish farming mostly uses impeller-type aeration machines; for food fish rearing ponds, 1.5-3.6 kW models can be selected, while for fry ponds or overwintering ponds, 0.37-0.55 kW models can be selected.
