What kind of environment does breeding require? How much does an authentic one cost?According to the Henan pheasant breeding base, the price of a truly wild mountain chicken is about 80 to 100, and generally it weighs only about 2 to 3 jin.

Is the pheasant a nationally protected animal?

1. It is a national second-class protected animal, and eating it is illegal, but the pheasants generally sold on the market are all domestic-raised, not authentic, and besides, selling genuine pheasants is also illegal.

2. The pheasant was a royal tribute in successive dynasties. After eating it, Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty praised it endlessly and wrote the famous line “Its fame shakes the north of the frontier for three thousand li, its flavor surpasses the twelve towers of Jiangnan.” After eating it, Ye Xuanping, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, commented: “Good-looking, good-tasting, with a game flavor”; the famous nutritionist Yu Ruomu also gave high praise to the nutritional components of the pheasant. Giving pheasants as gifts is a high-grade gift, serving them to guests is rare game, and it is also a reserved dish of the British royal family for entertaining heads of state. Precisely because of this, every year around the Spring Festival, a wave of giving pheasants sweeps across the market.

What kind of environment does pheasant breeding require?

1. The ground of the pheasant exercise yard should have a certain slope to facilitate drainage, and the ground should be level, preferably made into a cement floor for easy cleaning. Around the exercise yard, brick pillars about 1.8 m high can be built, and netting can be added on top and around; wire mesh can be used for the netting, or nylon netting can be used instead. When installing the netting, a low wall base 30-100 cm high can be built around it, and then the netting installed on it; this can both extend the service life of the netting and make the exercise yard neat and attractive.

2. Because breeding chickens must be raised with males and females separated before mating, at least two chicken houses must be built or converted. At the same time, feed troughs, drinking water troughs, etc. should also be prepared inside the chicken house. The feed trough can be made to order from wooden strips, generally 1 m long, 5 cm wide and 5 cm high. Large-mesh iron netting or small wooden strips can be nailed over the trough to prevent the chickens from entering the feed trough, and the water trough can be replaced by a plastic basin or other container. If conditions permit, a special tower-type drinker can be purchased. Because chickens very much like dust bathing, a sand pool can be set up in the exercise yard (river sand or stone sand will do; this Dadao Farm can teach the formula technology for health sand), or a large plastic basin filled with sand can be placed in the exercise yard, and care should be taken to keep the sand clean and dry.
