Is their meat cold in nature or hot in nature?
What are the feeding methods for meat donkeys and meat cattle?
Meat donkeys:
Donkeys purchased by meat donkey farms should first be dewormed, not castrated, and fed in separate troughs according to sex and body weight. Newborn donkeys drink colostrum for 6 days, then suckle breast milk after 7 days. At 15 days of age, they are trained to eat a thin porridge made by boiling equal parts of corn, wheat and millet mixed evenly, with a little sugar added to entice them to eat, fed 10 g to 20 g per day. After 22 days of age, feed 80 g to 100 g of mixed concentrate, with the formula being: soybean meal plus cottonseed meal 50%, cornmeal 29%, wheat bran 20%, salt 1%. At 1 month of age, feed 100 g to 200 g per donkey per day; at 2 months of age, feed 500 g to 1000 g per day; after 9 months of age, feed 3.5 kg per day. The whole fattening period consumes a total of 500 kg of concentrate. If cottonseed is fried until yellow or boiled until it swells and cracks, feeding 1 kg per donkey per day gives even better fattening results. Roughage is provided for free feeding; choose millet straw, soybean stalks, peanut vines, sweet potato vines, silage corn with cobs, and high-quality forage grass, and chop them short. Feed 4 times a day: morning, noon, evening and night. As the farming proverb says, “a horse cannot fatten without night grass”; the same is true for donkeys, so it is emphasized that night grass should be mixed in for feeding. When feeding, pay attention to giving small amounts frequently, provide enough clean water, and supplement salt in appropriate amounts. Brush the donkeys' bodies every day, remove manure and urine, and clean the feed troughs. Every 20 to 25 donkeys form a group, moving freely, feeding freely on roughage, and drinking water freely.
1. According to the purpose of meat donkey farming and individual differences, assign separate troughs and positions; feed males and females separately; group those of similar body size together; meat donkeys eat at different speeds, and positioning should also take into account individual temperament, breeding use or reproduction, and fattening. For a female donkey about to give birth, the current year's foal should use a separate trough. The trough for a lactating female donkey should be wider to make it easier for the foal to nurse and rest.
2. The number of feedings, times and amounts per day should be determined according to the season. For example, in winter when it is cold and the nights are long, feed 4 times: morning, noon, evening and night; in spring and summer it can be increased to 5 times. In autumn, when the weather is cool, feed 3 times a day. The feeding times and amounts should be relatively fixed every day to avoid overeating or insufficient intake, which can cause digestive tract diseases.
3. Feed carefully according to the trough, giving small amounts frequently. Each feeding should first provide grass, then provide grass mixed with water and concentrate. Do not give too much grass or feed at one time; give small amounts frequently so that the trough is neither left with leftover grass nor empty. Concentrate should be increased from less to more, gradually reducing grass and adding feed.
4. Provide meat donkeys with sufficient drinking water. When feeding donkeys, sufficient water should be supplied. Feed water 4 times a day, and 5 or 6 times in hot weather. Do not let them drink too quickly, to avoid choking of the lungs and abdominal pain. The water trough and bucket should not be placed too high, and the drinking water should be kept clean and fresh. In cold weather, the drinking water should be heated to prevent them from drinking water that is too cold.
Meat cattle:
1. Ensure suitable conditions in the cattle shed. Clean the cattle manure in the shed every day to prevent the ground from freezing and causing the cattle to slip and injure themselves, and brush the cattle's bodies so that they feel comfortable and grow healthily; regularly (at least once a week) use disinfectant to carry out a comprehensive preventive disinfection of the cattle shed floor, tools, etc., to reduce the occurrence of disease; pay attention to keeping the cattle shed warm. At present, the temperature difference between day and night is large, and the nighttime temperature is relatively low. The temperature in the cattle shed should be kept above 4°C. This temperature plays an important role in cattle weight gain and reducing colds.
2. Scientific and reasonable feeding. During the process of feeding cattle, first provide roughage and then concentrate, so that the cattle eat their fill. If necessary, feed once more after 8 p.m., which can have a very good effect on helping cattle resist cold and gain fat; provide more high-energy feed (corn) to enhance physical strength, and regularly feed an appropriate amount of green hay to supplement the shortage of vitamin A intake in winter; prevent cattle from drinking frozen water and eating frozen forage, especially pregnant cows, since drinking frozen water on an empty stomach can easily cause miscarriage.
3. Do a good job in immunization. Currently it is a season with a high incidence of disease. Vaccination against foot-and-mouth disease type O, Asia I and type A should be done in advance, and those not yet vaccinated should be given supplementary shots in time. For cattle farms with a large number of animals, it is recommended to repeat the injection once after 28 days of medication to improve the immune effect.
4. Comprehensive and meticulous management. Keep records of daily production and other work, and pay attention to observing the health status of the cattle, especially the management of pregnant cows. The gestation period of cows is generally about 285 days. Strengthen daily management of cows and supply complete-price feed and vitamins to prevent postpartum diseases. Newborn calves should have their navels disinfected promptly with iodine tincture, and must receive the cow's colostrum within two hours so as to obtain maternal immunity.
