Evergreen Canteen / Hou'an Community Development Center

The sun is shining and the sea breeze blows gently. Fish ponds fill the view one after another. Beside the straight road stands a building with a huge white windmill. This is the activity center of Hou'an Community in Mailiao Township, Yunlin County. At 11 a.m., residents gather one after another - it turns out that the Evergreen Canteen here has opened! Chairman Lin Hsin-fa pointed out that the community's Evergreen Canteen has been open for four months. It currently serves 120 people, with meals provided every Monday to Friday. Anyone aged 55 or older can enjoy meals free of charge. From time to time, warm-hearted residents also provide vegetables, fruit, fish, shrimp and other items to add dishes for everyone. For community residents, this is truly a great benefit!

The chairman said he hopes the Evergreen Canteen can continue, and in the future he also hopes to provide pick-up and drop-off services for elderly people with limited mobility. However, due to issues such as insurance, this requires careful evaluation. At present, the canteen's operations will move in a more refined direction, for example, preparing meals for vegetarians and so on. Although it cannot cover every aspect, this has always been the goal that the community development association has been working toward. Although the canteen has only been open for four months so far, the results have been very good. Seeing the community's elderly people eating happily makes everyone feel very satisfied! Therefore, the right thing should be continued persistently, so that residents' lives can become more stable and better.
