How much is a jin of loach fry? Master these eight points and your pond will be bursting after three months of farming
Loach, also known as fish loach, is a common fish in lakes, ponds, paddy fields and ditches. It combines food and medicinal uses, so it is called “ginseng of the water.” At present, many areas are also engaged in artificial farming. So how much is a jin of loach fry? How can you farm them to make the pond burst?
1. How much is a jin of loach fry?
1. The average market price of loach fry is about 0.06 yuan per tail, but on the market they are generally sold in units of 10,000 tails. If calculated by 10,000 tails, the price is generally about 600-1000 yuan; if calculated by jin, it is generally about 20-50 yuan per jin. However, due to differences in variety, place of origin and quality, the price of fry will also vary to some extent.
2. Authentic loach fry are mostly sold in units of 10,000 tails, and the selling price will not exceed 1000 yuan. Therefore, if you encounter them being sold by the jin on the market, it is mostly a quality or quantity problem, so it is not recommended to buy them.
2. How do you farm loach so they can survive?
There are many methods for loach farming. Common ones include pond farming, paddy field farming, lotus root pond farming, cement pond farming or cage farming. Among them, pond farming is one of the most common methods. Below is a brief look at the pond farming method.
1. Pond construction and management conditions:
(1) Loach pond construction: Generally, two types can be built, fry ponds and adult fish ponds. The fry pond can be smaller, generally about 50 sq m is enough, while the adult fish pond should be slightly larger, generally about 200 sq m is enough. If farming more, the pond can be expanded according to actual conditions. When building the pond, the depth of the fry pond should preferably be 50-100 cm, and the depth of the adult fish pond should preferably be 30-40 cm. It is worth noting that when building the pond, there must be no leaks, so as to prevent the loach from escaping during farming, which would lead to loss of both fish and money.
(2) Pond treatment: Before placing the fry, it is best to expose the pond to the sun for 30 days, and then disinfect every position, especially the feeding platform or its surroundings, which must be thoroughly disinfected to prevent bacteria from breeding and harming the loach.
(3) Water source requirements: Generally, slightly alkaline water quality with dissolved oxygen above 3 mg/l is sufficient. For example, unpolluted lake water, well water or tap water are all good water sources.
(4) Pond soil requirements: Generally, clay is most suitable. If there is none, a small amount of organic fertilizer such as cow dung, pig dung or sheep dung can be placed at the bottom of the pond before stocking to increase the thickness of the silt. This method is especially suitable in winter and can effectively help the loach fry overwinter safely.
2. Key points of farming management:
(1) Fry selection: It is best to choose lively, active and disease-free fry. Generally, they can be purchased from specialized breeding farms.
(2) Fry disinfection: Before putting in the selected fry, they should be soaked in about 5% salt water for about 10 minutes to prevent saprolegniasis.
(3) Water color adjustment: Generally, yellow-green water quality with a transparency of about 20-30 cm is best, as this is more conducive to fry growth. If the transparency is less than 20 cm, fertilization should be reduced; if it is higher than 25 cm, fertilizer should be appropriately added to ensure the water color is yellow-green.
(4) Appropriate fertilization: Generally, fertilize once every 15 days, and when fertilizing, it is best to use about 15 kg of organic fertilizer per mu. If the water color is not very good, fertilizer can be added or reduced according to specific conditions to ensure the pond water is yellow-green.
(5) Regular disinfection: When the loach fry grow to 6-10 months, disinfect once every 2 weeks with chlorine dioxide. If the water quality is yellow-green, photosynthetic bacteria or other microecological preparations can be combined to control water quality.
(6) Temperature control: The growth temperature is best controlled at 18-28°C. If it is higher than 30°C, the pond water should be changed and the water volume increased to adjust the water temperature and promote growth.
(7) Feeding platform cleaning: Disinfect the pond with an appropriate amount of quicklime every 20 days, and disinfect the feeding platform with bleaching powder every half a month to prevent unclean feeding platforms from causing other diseases. If time is sufficient, it is best to clean once a day.
(8) Timely harvesting: Loach can be harvested when they grow to 8-10 months, and generally each sq m can produce 500-800 g of adult loach.
3. About how many loach fry can be farmed in one mu of land?
There are many types of loach fry, and common ones generally include water flower fry and inch fry. Among them, 400,000-500,000 water flower fry can be farmed per mu, and they can grow into commercial loach four months after stocking; for inch fry, generally 60,000-80,000 are stocked per mu, and they can grow to commercial loach size three months after stocking.
Editor's note: Loach fry are not expensive, generally about 0.06 yuan per tail, but to farm loach fry well, it is necessary to do a good job in various management tasks such as water quality, soil requirements, pond management and disinfection. Only in this way can the loach fry make the pond burst within three months!
