How much does a metal chicken cost? Unveiling the chicken breed known as the Lamborghini chicken

When I was a kid watching Cooking Master Boy. What left the deepest impression was a chicken that was completely black. Black feathers, black claws, black eyes! It would even flap its two big black “wings” blindly, oh my, it scared me so much, but after watching the whole episode I realized this was just the silkie chicken my mom bought from the supermarket!

But actually, seeing a real silkie chicken, it is still somewhat different from the image in the comic. Later, I came to know a new kind of chicken——the metal chicken! That is the one that is black as charcoal all over! So what is a metal chicken? How much does a metal chicken cost?

1. What is a metal chicken?

1. The metal chicken is a rare chicken breed found in Indonesia. This metal chicken has a high reputation in Indonesia and even across Asia, because its distinctive black meat is often believed by people to have mysterious powers and to bring good luck.

2. But in many countries, black represents bad luck. In the West, when people talk about black they think of metal, so this chicken, which is black even in its tongue, meat, internal organs and so on, is called the metal chicken.

3. This chicken is not only black, but black very evenly. It is understood that the reason it can be so evenly black is that it was bred from a natural gene. This gene is a variant of the black meat gene, and this gene mutation can affect pigment-producing cells. After the cells invade the tissue, they become fibrous tissue.

4. Some people think that since it is black all over and black inside too, are the eggs it lays also black? Unfortunately, I have to tell you, they are not~ Its eggs actually carry a tiny hint of girly pink~ Each chicken can lay about 80 eggs a year~ But it is not a responsible mother hen and does not like to stay in the nest for long, so most of the time artificial breeding is still needed~

2. The price of the metal chicken

After hearing the introduction above, do you feel it is a bit like the silkie chicken in China? You could say they are very similar in appearance. Although they are alike, the prices are worlds apart.

A metal chicken sells for about 2500 US dollars each, which is more than 10,000 yuan in RMB, so for this reason people often call it: the Lamborghini among chickens, (Lambor-chicken-i). Speaking of two months' wages, that is really not an exaggeration. The price of the chicken is high precisely because this metal chicken has a special use. Although it looks about the same as an ordinary chicken on the outside, and the cooking and eating methods are the same, this chicken's blood has a detoxifying effect.
