As a country that eats a lot of pork, China has always been a major consumer, not only needing to be self-sufficient but also exporting overseas. Currently, most of the pork sold on the market basically comes from white pigs, and among the white pig breeds, farming is mostly concentrated on Landrace pigs. Today the editor is going to introduce exactly the Landrace pig. For farmers, choosing a good breed and raising it carefully is what can create the greatest returns. How do you raise Landrace pigs? Are you clear on the farming techniques? Let's take a look together!

How do you raise Landrace pigs?

1. Farming environment

The farming environment is a crucial factor for every animal. Landrace pigs are naturally no exception, so do not overlook this. The most time-consuming part of managing a pig pen should be the hygiene issue, but actually this does not need to be overly worried about. When building the farm, you should separate the living area from the feed area to make future management easier. Landrace pigs are generally raised by farmers as lean-meat pigs, so we also need to control the temperature of the farming environment well. Around 20 degrees Celsius is the most suitable temperature, not too hot or too cold, and the pigs will also grow a bit faster. Then you should pay attention to the ventilation of the entire pig pen; it cannot be kept closed all year round, producing lots of bacteria and pathogens. Finally, there is the cleaning of pig manure; cleaning twice a day is the most reasonable.

2. Feeding

Feeding Landrace pigs is similar to other breeds of pigs; they are all fed three times a day, morning, noon and evening, but remember not to feed feed every single meal, as this is very unfavorable for balancing health. Generally when feeding, it is recommended to add an appropriate amount of forage, which can help metabolism. If you are pursuing more nutrition, you can consider adding an appropriate amount of food made from ground rice husks during feeding, which can help digestion and is also good for fat deposition in Landrace pigs.

3. Disease prevention

Landrace pigs are not considered particularly resistant pigs, and they get sick fairly often. The common one is diarrhea, and if it is not discovered in time it can very likely lead to the death of the Landrace pig. If you find that piglets have a poor appetite during feeding or that the pig manure is thin and yellow, you should pay more attention. Diarrhea generally requires medication treatment, and vaccines can also be given in advance. The causes are basically improper hygiene and disinfection and feed that is too monotonous.

That is all for today's introduction to Landrace pigs. At present, raising Landrace pigs is generally fairly stable; the returns will not be particularly high, but you also will not encounter the risk of price drops. It mainly still depends on your own choice.
