What are some good methods for farming oysters?
As a seafood, oysters naturally command a high market price. Nowadays they are indispensable on the dining table, and the market prospects are very promising. So how should oysters be farmed artificially? What are some good methods for farming oysters? Below, the Tumaiwang editor will take everyone through a quick look~
1. Farming environment
The oyster is a creature that stays in the sea; it does not really lie completely motionless in the sea, so this sea-based farming environment is crucial. Whether oysters can truly be farmed, the most critical step is this sea water issue. In fact, they filter sea water; a single adult oyster can filter five liters of water in about an hour.
2. Reproduction issues
1. They generally need to reach at least two years of age before they can reproduce, and reproduction takes place in the sea. Both males and females need to be placed into sea water at around 25°C. The female oyster releases eggs into the sea water, and the male oyster releases sperm, and then this fertilization process is completed in the sea water.
2. Generally, the newly fertilized eggs cannot be directly seen with the naked eye; it is only possible after more than two days. Here there is an advantage of farming oysters, which is that there is no need to feed some kind of feed into the sea water, meaning that the oysters can completely obtain food by their own ability, and this is the same even for newly born oysters. Before they produce fertilized eggs, this area must be planned out and covered with a cylinder, the purpose naturally being to prevent the small oysters from escaping.
3. After about a month and a half, some tiny oysters can be seen, and at this time they can be transplanted to a safe area without wave movement. During this period basically nothing needs to be done, just waiting for them to grow up. After about another five months, they can be placed into filter nets and then soaked in the sea, and in roughly three months they can grow to a length of 5cm.
4. With the basic early-stage cultivation complete up to here, the middle stage is just a bit troublesome, yet not complicated. For farmers, farming oysters is really a method that saves effort and can also make them rich.
3. Harvesting and collecting
1. Although it is called harvesting, among these oysters there are also small ones that have grown, so they need to be picked out. The large ones are taken out for sale, and the small ones are put back into the mud to let them continue growing. During the picking process, do not throw them with force; even though their shells are very hard, they can easily crack open directly.
2. After that, they can be collected and transported to some places with relatively small waves. The local area is required to have mud of a certain thickness, and these oysters need to be placed into the mud to let them grow there for about half a year. After half a year, harvesting can begin.
3. Then comes the final step: place these picked-out large oysters into sea water with a specially disinfected environment, let them live there for two or three days to wash away all the bacteria and similar things inside, and then they can be transported to the market for sale
