How much is nutria per jin? Detailed explanation of breeding methods
The nutria is an important fur-bearing animal, its meat is edible, and it is now farmed all over the world, with escapees in some areas becoming an invasive species. The nutria grows fast and has strong reproductive capacity, so how much is nutria per jin? How to raise it?
1. How much is nutria per jin?
The price of farmed nutria is about 25-30 yuan per jin, or about 350-380 yuan per pair. The whole nutria is a treasure, and its market price is also considerable. The feeding cost of one nutria is at most more than 40 yuan, yet one jin of nutria meat can sell for more than 20 yuan. It is generally raised to about 12 jin to 15 jin before being sold, and one animal can sell for about 300 yuan, so the profit is still quite high. Moreover, raising nutria not only has low cost, is easy to feed and easy to manage, but also does not pollute the environment.
2. How to raise nutria?
1. Preparation of the site and housing
Nutria breeding farms vary from place to place, but their structural features are suited to the living habits of nutria. Therefore, the construction of the farm housing generally has three conditions: burrows (nests) mainly for burrowing life, an exercise yard for daytime activity, and a water pool for drinking and bathing. From a business perspective, while building the farm housing to meet the above conditions, attention should be paid to adapting to local conditions, using local materials, and being attractive, sturdy, economical and practical.
The site of the farm housing should be chosen in a place with higher terrain, dry and easy to drain, facing the sun and relatively sheltered from the wind, with sandy soil on the ground and a relatively quiet surrounding environment, in an area with little disturbance (few idle people coming and going), little pollution, and little spread of disease. Therefore, the farm housing should be at least 300m away from main traffic arteries and more than 100m away from pedestrian paths.
There are many ways to raise nutria, generally including pen raising, indoor raising and cage raising. Taking pen raising as an example, the requirements for building its housing are introduced below.
The characteristic of a pen-raising site is that it is suitable for household raising in rural areas, has good conditions, easily meets the requirements of scientific feeding, and is also suitable for large-scale raising. During construction, one group is taken as a unit, with an area (for raising) of about 5.6 sq m. First, a drain pipe should be provided at the bottom of the pool or on the side close to the bottom, leading to a sewer or seepage well, so that when changing the water in the pool, the old water can be discharged. At this time, the pool walls can also be scrubbed. Second, the wall thickness is generally about 10-15 cm; because regions differ and climatic conditions vary, the thickness may vary slightly, with suitability, sturdiness and economy being preferable. Third, each unit can raise: (1) one lactating female and its young; or (2) one male and 3-5 adult females; or (3) 6-8 young animals aged 10 months. Fourth, for large-scale raising, several unit housings can be built connected together, which saves materials and land and is also convenient for management.
2. Preparation of feed
The nutria is a herbivorous animal, and its main food is plant-based feed, such as forage grass, vegetables, twigs and bark, seeds and additives, with a very broad diet. Favorite forage grasses include: water grass, reeds, clover, alfalfa, water barnyard grass, plantain, Arthraxon hispidus, dandelion, etc.; vegetables include kohlrabi, bok choy, napa cabbage, lettuce, rapeseed, eggplant, green radish, carrot, sweet potato, potato, watermelon, sugar beet, cucumber, etc.; twigs and leaves include elm twigs and leaves, poplar twigs and leaves, linden twigs and leaves, birch twigs and leaves, etc.; seeds include corn, soybean, sorghum, acorns, etc. In addition, bean stalks, bean pod skins, millet straw, flower seedlings, sweet potato vines, etc. can also be used as feed. Additive feed includes fish meal, bone meal, meat meal, yeast powder, blood meal and various vitamins, growth promoters, antibiotics, salt and various trace elements, etc.
3. Preparation for disease prevention
Nutria can be infected with infectious diseases such as colibacillosis, pasteurellosis, and salmonellosis. Attention should be paid to prevention when introducing breeding stock. For newly introduced or newly purchased individuals, regardless of their number, insist on isolated feeding in the early stage and carry out preventive vaccination.
4. Preparation for introducing breeding stock
Before introducing breeding stock, it is necessary to comprehensively and multidirectionally understand the supply sources of breeding stock, master the relevant basic knowledge, follow the principle of purchasing from units qualified to deal in seedlings, adhere to the principles of comparing quality, price and service, and adhere to the principle of purchasing from nearby, so as to ensure good quality, price and structure of the breeding stock.
