How to farm sea cucumbers for high yields, with considerable annual returns
We all know sea cucumbers are precious. Their market value is extremely high. Quite a few people make money by farming sea cucumbers. So do you know how to achieve high yields of sea cucumbers? Below, the Tuliu.com editor will take everyone to have a look~
1. Farming management
1. After releasing the seedlings and before the end of May, keep the water level in the sea cucumber pond between 1.0~1.2m. This helps the spring water temperature rise. Use well-fermented chicken manure to fertilize the water, keeping water transparency at 30~40cm. To avoid the loss of organic matter, control the daily water exchange volume at around 10cm
2. In July~August, as the air temperature and water temperature rise, gradually deepen the water level and keep the water depth above 1.8m. In summer, do not carry out large water exchanges. This helps keep the water and water temperature stable, and helps the sea cucumbers aestivate and smoothly pass through the high-temperature period.
3. After entering September, when the water temperature drops to 23C, the aestivating sea cucumbers come out one after another to forage. At the same time, autumn is also the peak season for sea cucumber growth and weight gain, so the water exchange volume should be increased, with daily water exchange at 20"30cm. Increasing the water exchange volume can bring in more natural feed from the sea, which can ensure the rapid growth of the sea cucumbers.
4. After entering November in our area, as cold waves continuously invade, both the air temperature and water temperature are dropping. When the water temperature is 7~8C, most large-size sea cucumbers begin to enter the reefs to overwinter. At this time, the water exchange volume should be around 1015cm, mainly to replenish water and raise the water level.
5. Before the ice seals over, spread pond-bottom safety agent or substrate improver once. The overwintering water depth should be kept above 2.0m. During the winter spring tide period, some seawater can be appropriately replenished, but the water intake should be slow and not exceed 20cm, so as to avoid excessive changes in water quality and water temperature that would bring stress reactions to the overwintering sea cucumbers. After heavy snow, immediately clear the accumulated snow on the ice surface to increase the light intensity of the seawater under the ice. This is beneficial to photosynthesis, increases the dissolved oxygen content of the pond water under the ice, and ensures the sea cucumbers overwinter smoothly.
2. Clear the pond once every three years to create a good growing environment for sea cucumbers
1. Through several years of sea cucumber farming, we found that in newly built sea cucumber ponds, the sea cucumbers grow fast, the survival rate is high, there is less disease, and the yield is high. We decided to change the model of keeping water in the sea cucumber pond all year round, not clearing the pond for many years, and mixed culturing and interval harvesting of sea cucumbers of different sizes. In this model, because the pond cannot be cleared in time, the pond bottom becomes severely aged, turns black, smells bad, and hydrogen sulfide and ammonia nitrogen seriously exceed the standard. Some farmers rely on adding substrate improvers and biological agents to improve and alleviate bottom aging, but this cannot fundamentally solve the problem of pond-bottom aging, and therefore cannot ensure high yields of sea cucumbers.
2. After 1.5~2 years of farming, large-size sea cucumber seedlings, under reasonable stocking density, can reach commercial size at 80%. If seedlings are supplemented once in the spring of the third year, then harvesting the sea cucumbers and clearing the pond in the autumn of the fourth year, it is obvious that clearing the pond once every three years will produce a certain pond-clearing cost. However, the type of attachment substrate we put in is all conducive to pond clearing, which can effectively reduce the pond-clearing cost and also ensure high yields of sea cucumbers. After deducting the pond-clearing cost, it will still bring relatively ideal economic benefits to sea cucumber farmers. Through several years of high-yield sea cucumber farming experiments, we have summarized some experience to share with fellow sea cucumber farmers: to achieve high yields of sea cucumbers, you must not only cultivate the water well but also cultivate the pond bottom well, because sea cucumbers are benthic organisms, and a good substrate is the guarantee of high-yield sea cucumber farming.
Alright, the above is the technical content on high-yield sea cucumbers brought to you by the Tuliu.com editor. We hope everyone will like it. See you next time.
