The guinea fowl originated in Guinea on the west coast of the African continent. Its meat is tender, delicious, high in protein and low in fat. It was originally a wild bird, and after domestication and rearing, it gradually became a new breed of meat poultry in some countries. It is named for the round spots covering its feathers, and has very good farming prospects, so how do you raise guinea fowl? What is the price per jin?

I. How do you raise guinea fowl?

1. Build a brooder house

The brooder house should be used to raise chicks of the same size and breed; male and female chicks should be raised in separate pens, and where conditions allow, in separate houses. The brooder house is required to have good sealing to help keep the house warm. The brooder house can have a cement floor, which can drain water and is convenient for cleaning, washing and disinfecting the house. A disinfecting pool should be set up at the entrance of the house, and shoes must be disinfected before entering.

2. Flat rearing on wire mesh

When using flat rearing on floor mesh, the mesh surface can be made of iron wire, wood or bamboo. The mesh spacing (or mesh size) should be suitable, generally 1.2 cm spacing or 1.2 cm square mesh, and the mesh surface height is 60-70 cm. It is best for the entire mesh surface to be movable, so that after the flock is moved out, the mesh can be lifted to remove droppings and clean the house.

3. Free-range on the ground

In winter and spring, 5-7 cm thick litter should be spread, and in summer the ground should be covered with sand and soil plus a thin layer of litter. The litter should be clean, dry, free of mildew and cut to about 10 cm long. After one brooding cycle, the litter should be cleared out of the house and composted together with the droppings, and must not be used again.

4. Brooding in cages

When brooding in cages, water troughs and feed troughs should be provided according to the number of chickens and placed evenly. A raised heat-preservation umbrella is used for heating. Where the building area is small and electricity is relatively convenient, stacked electric brooding cages can be used for brooding, with 4 tiers per cage, able to brood 1200-1600 chicks in total.

5. Feed

Feed: When raising guinea fowl, compound feed should be used as much as possible, with the proportions: grains 45%-70%, bran and middlings 5%-15%, animal-based 15%-25%, mineral-based 3%-7%, additives 0.5%-1%. Feeding more green fodder can both reduce feed costs and improve meat quality. Guinea fowl have the habit of dust bathing, so a dust bath pool needs to be set up in the house so the guinea fowl can clean their feathers in it. Guinea fowl can be fed either dry feed or wet feed.

II. What is the price of guinea fowl per jin?

How much is guinea fowl per jin? As a special meat poultry, guinea fowl has relatively high economic value. Market prices differ slightly by region; the general market price is between 20-25 per jin, and some are 30 per jin. Different sales channels and different sales methods, wholesale, retail, door-to-door purchasing, etc., will certainly differ greatly in price. A simple example: potatoes sold in the field at two mao per jin sell for more than two yuan on the market, a very large price difference. Sales ability differs; different farmers have different sales ability, social connections and existing conditions, which directly affect sales volume and price.
