In the domestication and breeding of masked palm civets, there are mainly 4 common diseases: diarrhea, loss of appetite, constipation, and viral enteritis. If not prevented and treated in time, mild cases affect growth and development, while severe cases lead to death. So how should masked palm civet diseases be prevented and treated? Below, follow the editor of Tuliu.com to take a look~

1. Diarrhea. The normal feces of masked palm civets are soft strips. In cases of diarrhea, the feces are loose and mixed with mucus. Treatment methods

① Take an appropriate amount of Baicaoshuang (that is, soot from the bottom of a pot; the Baicaoshuang formed by burning coal cannot be used), mix it into the masked palm civet's feed, and feed continuously for 3 days, which generally cures it.

② Boil pomegranate fruit or pomegranate bark in water and feed it, and it can be cured after 1 continuous week.

③ Each masked palm civet can be fed 1-2 tablets of terramycin per day mixed into congee. Generally, diarrhea stops after 3 continuous days.

④ For masked palm civets with relatively severe diarrhea and prolapse of the anus, use 1% potassium permanganate to wash the prolapsed part of the anus clean, then push it back into place, burn a turtle head into ash, mix it with sesame oil, and apply it to the anal area. Then take 2~4 tablets of terramycin and dissolve them in salt water for feeding. Apply and feed continuously for 3 days. If there is improvement, the amount can be reduced as appropriate.

2. Constipation. Its symptoms are dry stool, sometimes straining as if to defecate but no feces being passed, the body arched, the head drawn toward the belly; the tail drooping, eye discharge, the body sometimes trembling, unwilling to eat, and staying away from the group. Treatment methods

① Focus on prevention. Usually feed the masked palm civet more plants rich in starch, such as bananas.

② After onset, an appropriate amount of cooked peanut oil and salt can be added to the feed, and it can be cured in 2~5 days.

3. Loss of appetite (anorexia) is generally caused by long-term single feed, so the feed must be adjusted. At the same time, some bones of chickens, ducks, pigs, etc. can be placed in its activity area to stimulate the masked palm civet's appetite. In addition, the cause of loss of appetite may be parasitic roundworms in the body, which can generally be diagnosed from the feces. If the feces contain red, pinhead-sized, needle-length substances, these are parasitic roundworms. Prevention and treatment method: each masked palm civet can be given 1 tablet {0.5-0.8 grams} of piperazine citrate, add 20 grams of white sugar and mix with congee for feeding, feed 3 times a day, continuously for 3 days, and the roundworms and eggs can be killed.

4. Viral enteritis. Its symptoms are that the feces are first reddish-brown and porridge-like, then become darker reddish-brown watery bloody stool, containing shed mucous-like matter and giving off a putrid corpse-like stench. Generally, the sick civet's hind limbs and neck are in a paralyzed state and it is accompanied by extreme listlessness and restlessness. If not treated in time, it will die in 2.4 days, and it can quickly infect other animals. Its prevention and treatment measures:

1. First, isolate the sick civet separately as soon as possible, and spray the original activity area with 2% potassium permanganate for disinfection.

2. Second, use drugs, namely terramycin and anti-dysentery bacteria, for feeding. Third, focus on prevention and regularly feed the masked palm civet some fresh grass (cogon grass), etc.
