Bullfrog is a very popular food ingredient nowadays. Its nutritional value is extremely high, its meat is delicious, and both its economic value and market demand are very high. So farming bullfrogs is a very good get-rich project. Then how should bullfrogs be farmed? Below, the editor from Tuliu Network will talk with everyone about it~

1. Stocking density

Separate the young frogs by size, with a stocking density of about 100 per sq m. Indoor and outdoor rearing of young frogs during metamorphosis occurs right in the high-temperature season. Where conditions permit, the young frogs can be transferred indoors for rearing. Empty rooms, pig sheds, underground air-defense facilities, and so on can be used; any shady place can be used to raise frogs. Outdoor pits and ponds, low-lying land, rice fields, and so on can also be used for stocking. However, the area of the young frog pond should not be too large. If it is too large, the young frogs are scattered and it is not easy for them to gather to feed, causing polarization, resulting in the phenomenon of large frogs eating small frogs, and the yield is also not high. Outdoor farming has one advantage: electric lights can be used to attract moths, adopting a rearing method that combines natural bait with artificial compound feed.

2. Temperature

Heat prevention and cold prevention. Whether young frogs are raised indoors or outdoors, attention must be paid to heat prevention and cold prevention. The most suitable growth temperature for bullfrogs is 22C~28C. During the rearing period, the maximum temperature should not exceed 35C, and the minimum should not be lower than 20C (except during hibernation). Therefore, in the high-temperature season, the frog pond should be properly shaded, such as with melon sheds, grape trellises, tree shade, and so on. Indoors, doors and windows should be opened to maintain ventilation. In winter, young frogs cannot tolerate low temperatures and are prone to freezing to death, so attention must be paid to keeping them warm. For overwintering young frogs, it is best to build a simple greenhouse with plastic film. On sunny days, sunlight can make the temperature inside the plastic shed about 5C higher than the outside temperature. If freezing occurs, covering the plastic shed with straw to keep it warm, deepening the water level, and sealing doors and windows tightly can allow them to overwinter safely.

3. Regular feeding

During the suitable temperature period, feed 2-3 times a day, with the feeding amount accounting for 3%~5% of the frog's body weight. While feeding compound feed, some fresh bait can also be fed, such as small miscellaneous fish and shrimp, earthworms, and so on.

4. Frequent water changes

Clean the feeding platform. Indoor farming requires changing the water every day, cleaning residual bait and excrement in the pond and on the feeding platform, and keeping the water quality fresh. This discharged water can be used to raise tadpoles. For outdoor earthen ponds, although the water does not need to be changed every day, attention must be paid to ensuring the water is not too fertile or even foul-smelling, and new water should also be added frequently.

5. Prevent pests and diseases

Observe carefully and prevent disease in time. When feeding every day, pay attention to observing the frogs' feeding status and overall condition. If you find frogs that have left the group, or have a swollen abdomen and float on the water surface, or hang their heads and lie on the bottom of the pond, they are already sick frogs. The sick frogs should be scooped out and given the right medicine for the illness. The main disease of young frogs is skin rot, which is a bacterial disease. If not treated in time, it spreads very quickly and can cause mass death.

6. Prevent natural enemies

The main natural enemies of young frogs are rats and snakes. Frequently check whether the fence facilities are damaged or bitten through by rats. Damaged areas should be repaired in time to prevent young frogs from escaping and natural enemies from intruding. Regularly placing rat poison outside the fence can also prevent rats from intruding.
