The arowana is a very ancient freshwater fish and one of the more popular ornamental fish in recent years, native to lakes and rivers in regions such as Indonesia and Malaysia. Generally, an adult arowana can live for over ten years, with a body length of about fifty cm. The arowana is very ferocious, and compared with other ornamental fish, it is somewhat more difficult to keep; only by fully mastering its growth habits can you raise it well. Let's take a look together at how much does an arowana fry cost? How do you raise it?

1. How much does an arowana fry cost?

Arowana prices on the market range from a few dozen yuan to several hundred thousand yuan, and prices also vary from region to region. The large price differences for arowanas are mainly determined by the arowana variety, followed by factors such as body size, development condition, and age.

The high price of arowanas is closely related to breeding costs. It is easy to imagine that if we import arowanas from abroad ourselves, we must both ensure their health and integrity and carefully care for them to achieve outstanding appearance, so during the selling process, the price must inevitably rise along with it.

2. How do you raise an arowana?

1. Water quality requirements for raising arowanas

The survival of arowanas requires weakly acidic to neutral water quality, and the hardness requirement is soft water. Change at least 20%-30% of the water every week, and the ammonia content should not exceed 0.1 parts per million (mg/1). Do not let the temperature or PH value change suddenly, as sudden changes can cause the sudden death of the arowana. If conditions permit, it is best to take water from the original tank of the new fish back to your own fish tank; taking back 1/3 is best, to help the new fish cope with adverse reactions to sudden environmental changes.

2. Lighting requirements for raising arowanas

For red arowanas, it is recommended to use weakly rotating plant lights for illumination. For golden arowanas, blue lights paired with white lights are mainly used. In fact, whether plant lights or sunlight lamps, when choosing lighting it is best to use weak rotating light, because if the light is too strong, the arowana's body color can fade. The color range of the lamp tube should be based on the arowana's own base color and its future color.

3. Key feeding points for arowanas

When feeding, it is best to place the food in the middle of the fish tank, so that the arowana does not hit one of the corners of the tank too hard while eating and get injured; arowanas are carnivorous animals, and most arowanas' diet consists of frogs, loaches, crickets, goldfish, grasshoppers, small shrimp, and so on; when feeding small shrimp, be sure to pull off the very sharp shrimp sword on the shrimp's head to avoid piercing the fish's internal organs; eat small meals more often, feeding four times a day.

4. Care of a newly purchased arowana

When you have just bought an arowana, the air pump in the fish tank should run for at least 24 hours to thoroughly eliminate chlorine in the water; if a biological filter is used continuously, then it is best to make the water reach a PH value of 6-7 and a water temperature of 25°C; add a little table salt to the fish tank to reduce the risk of fungal attack and make the fish healthy and increase its appetite.
