How to Grow Calla Lilies
Soil selection: it is best to choose loose, breathable soil rich in humus. Temperature control: calla lily is a warmth-loving plant, and during growing it should be kept at a temperature between 20-28°C. Proper moisture: keep its soil and leaf surfaces moist. Light adjustment: when it reaches the flowering period, make sure the calla lily gets plenty of sunlight. Moderate fertilizing: fertilize the calla lily once a month.
Precautions for growing calla lilies:
1. Pay attention to the timing of growing calla lilies: calla lilies have their own dormant period, so this time (June and July) should be avoided when growing them; generally September is the most suitable time for growing.
2. Be careful not to eat calla lilies by mistake: the rhizomes and flowers of calla lilies are toxic, so do not eat them by mistake when growing them.
3. Note that the growing site should “avoid smoke”: do not place calla lilies in kitchens or places with a lot of smoking, as this will cause yellow leaves and wilting.
What to do when calla lily leaves turn yellow?
Generally, yellowing of calla lily leaves mostly occurs in summer. Pay attention to ventilation and heat dissipation, and if necessary, change the potting soil. At the same time, avoid letting calla lilies come into contact with places with a lot of smoke, and control temperature, moisture and fertility well. If it is caused by disease, then buy some chemicals and spray them.
In addition, yellowing of calla lily leaves may also mean it has entered a “dormant period”. At this time, do not water it a lot, and avoid exposure to strong sun and rain; it will naturally ease in autumn.
